The Lego Batman Movie : Not Respectful to Batman at all

Not Respectful to Batman at all

This is Batman. Freaking Batman. The greatest super hero of all time. With the greatest rogues gallery of all time. He deserves better than this. Now if it had been the Flash, Green Lantern, maybe Robin or any of the Marvel characters, who cares. But Batman and to a lesser extent Superman and Wonder Woman, they deserve better.

This is the holy trinity after all.

i told you not to stop, now lets go - Apocalypse Now

It's a spoof.

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

Um flash is awesome

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

....and Batman isn't really a "super hero." He's a ridiculously rich guy with expensive gadgets.

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

Think of it this way: this movie is a love letter to the ridiculousness of the Batman interpretations over the years.

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

Exactly. It affectionately pokes fun at the inherent absurdity of the character. If it wasnt respectful to the character, it wouldnt have bothered giving him a character arc.

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

So he shouldn't have fun poked at him?

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

The very best spoofs are inherently complimentary.

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

IMO it was made with lots of love to the character

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

It is very respectful.

It's that man again!!

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

what a misguided effort........funny but add nothing to character

and christian bale and ben affleck >>> that voice actor

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

There's more than one Batman. Adam West's Batman isn't Tim Burton's Batman. Tim Burton's Batman isn't Joel Schumacher's Batman. Schumacher's Batman isn't Nolan's Batman. Batman: The Animated Series Batman isn't The Brave and the Bold Batman. Grant Morrison's Batman isn't Frank Miller's Batman.

Lego Batman is Lego Batman, just like all the other Batmen are distinct. They've never had to be the same.

Re: Not Respectful to Batman at all

That is just the live action and animated adaptions. Don't forget the comics had their own varying interpretations before Tim Burton got his hands on it. The hard boiled detective comic that started it all. The more serious crime fighter with an investigative side to him. The goofy camp version that INSPIRED the Adam West series as that was what the comics were like prior to the developing of the 1960's Batman(Bat Mite came out of that era of the comics.) The dark and brooding crime fighter who beat up the people far more than be an actual detective(despite the fact the comic was titled "Detective Comics.") The anti hero who broke the law in the worst possible ways to fight crime. All of those before Tim Burton even got his mitts on the franchise. With all of those conceptual versions, Batman has every right to be camp and fun!
