A Dog's Purpose : Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

Do you believe in it? Has your best friend reappeared in any other form to you? Do you think it possible a dog could ever come back as human form? Or vice versa?

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

I definitely do!

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

Only religious jerks who think they are the center of the universe would think a dog was reincarnated just for them.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

What are you talking about? This is a non religious question. And only South Asian religions believe in reincarnation for the most part. Speaking for myself my dogs are family to me and I am sure other dog owners feel the same and I am 100% sure dogs feel the same. Mine was brilliant, knew all of us by first name, understood everything said in 2 languages and I know he misses us as much as we still miss him for various reasons. Won't explain to you in detail since you are pretty rude.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

First off, when you call people "jerks", you're passing a negative judgement and stopping conversation. There are many world views. My impression from the previews was not that the dog was reincarnated just for the person, but that the dog and the person wanted to get back to one another and since the person lives longer, the dog cycles through a few dog lifetimes in his journey back.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

Oh honey, it's not just 'religious jerks' who think they are the center of the universe, but a lot of people in Hollywood too.

Of course, the center of the universe would be wherever I'm at but it's probably fairer to say we are all our individual universes.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

Reincarnation is a fact no a religious thing if you believe or not doesnt matter.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

I absolute believe that dogs can come back. I feel like there's a little bit of each dog we've lived and lost in every dog.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

Nope, no such thing as reincarnation for dogs or any other animal - including humans. No soul, no spirit, no reincarnation. That's my viewpoint, based on the utter lack of evidence for souls and spirits and reincarnation.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

No but when I got home I couldn't help but greet my doggo using some of my older pupper's names that have since passed.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

Dogs, Cats, and possibly other animals can re-incarnate here on earth.
And I know their spirit-soul, whatever you want to name it, also continues.
Have listened to several 'animal communicators' that have given many examples of
pet reincarnation, and that pets often do wait for their owners on the other side.

I was visited several times by my cat that had passed away, for about 2 weeks after he died. I heard his scratch at the window, and felt his footsteps walking on the bed, just like he always did when he was alive. My wife also claims she has seen the spirit of this cat, though I only heard/felt him

Almost think part of the media blitz about animal cruelty (the dog being made to jump into water) was to get people to pass on this wonderful film. I feel this is because there are those that don't want us to believe in reincarnation (a big part of the movie's plot/story) in order to continue to perpetuate our all-too human fear of death which is just another way to control the masses, through all our basic fears. Well, this is all IMHO, of course. Believe what you will.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

No such thing as reincarnation. There's no proof that such a thing exists. We just express our emotions and mannerisms onto another dog and they naturally and instinctively react in certain ways that are reminiscent of a previous dog. Although it's hard to define what a consciousness actually is (no one truly understands it), it's obvious that once an animal dies there is no "soul" or consciousness that continues living or comes back in another form.

Re: Do you believe in dog reincarnation?

I'll respond to this thread because it asks about one aspect of the movie which I planned to comment on. The Message boards are going to be disabled anyway but I'll go ahead and waste my time doing this anyway. I don't plan to use IMDb's other features to communicate, I'll probably just go to another message board.

I did not watch or pay attention to the "animal abuse controversy" stuff. People, animals and the planet are abused every minute of every day and will be for the rest of our existence so bitching about the possibility of one dog allegedly being "abused" is not going to change that one bit.

Now, I just returned from seeing this movie and I have to say that, while there are a few touching moments, I really did not like this movie. While I'm sure it was not meant to be completely serious/realistic, more of a fantasy, I think it offers false hope for nave or desperate people. I thought the "reincarnation" aspect was silly. I study Buddhism and the movie does not represent the concept of reincarnation the way it is understood by those who believe in it as part of their beliefs/philosophy.

There is little new presented in this movie that was not done much better in several other movies. I actually wished I had spent my time watching "My Dog Skip" (2000) instead, it is a much better movie. A list of other movies of the same genre that are much better might include "Old Yeller" (1957), "Where the Red Fern Grows" (1974) and "Good Bye My Lady" (1956). I'm sure there are many more.

I also thought that the movie did not represent the times in which the action was taking place very well. Only a brief mention of the Cold War /Cuban Missile Crisis. No mention of Kennedy Assassination, Vietnam, etc. etc. etc. Did not have to dwell on the current events, but certain aspects could have been better represented or incorporated into the story.

Oh yeah, the inclusion of the Simon & Garfunkel song "April Come She Will" was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!! It is such a gem.

Have Fun!
