Rings : This looks like garbage

This looks like garbage

What was the reason behind making this movie other than the fact that it'll make money. I can almost guarantee this will bring nothing new to the series and just ruin the appeal of the concept for this generation of viewers

Given the lowbrow taste in films of this generation, 'ruining' anything for such bottom-feeding standards, is pretty much impossible.

Re: This looks like garbage

To be fair, all films are made for money. It's a business. That's the reason it exists, not to provide a creative outlet for emotionally frustrated filmmakers. The trick is combining your artistic vision with box office success. Failing to do the latter will result in a dead career.

Technically, that's not really being "fair" It's more like being defeatist, or even nihilistic. \_()_/

Re: This looks like garbage

It's a reality. Producers don't greenlight projects to make directors feel good, they do it because they see profit in it. If the truth is harsh, so be it.

Re: This looks like garbage

It's not that it's harsh. I am not 12 years old, and have been around long enough to witness the industry's decline into shameless profiteering.

Even so, it's not something that should be condoned. For mine, it is all a part of the 'grand dumbing-down' of the masses: make everything as simplistic, as 'digestible', as broadly appealing as possiblelower the bareven at the expense of the core productso as to milk the bottom-feeder masses dry.

We can see what is taking place in the U.$. right now, and I, for one, see the forest of delusion for the trees or titillation.

The Ring was a classic because of its atmosphere and slow-burn build-up to crescendo. Not for its sequels, or how many tween-pandering "jump-scares" it could pack into 75 minutes. Taking the latter route is nothing more that grading audiences on a curve with the median viewer having an IQ of ~90. (V_V)
