Teen Mom OG : Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

When Tyler was going to AZ they showed their little travel montage and it showed him laying her on the floor of the boarding area and changing her! They are such white trash .

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Think for a moment about what you're laying your kid in? Nope. Might as well change the diaper in the middle of Fifth Avenue. I remember reading a news piece quite a while ago; someone took a swab of a common-area carpet and tested it for bacteria and other yucky things. Congrats, Ty; you just put all that on your daughter's rear end. Now all the poo on her isn't even her own.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

If I remember correctly, they had a blanket or covering of some sort underneath her.

The only thing constant in life is change

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

You're correct, he did have something under her.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Better he changed it then rather than wait and subject 100 innocent passengers trapped in an aluminum tube to baby *beep* smell.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

I'm sooooo glad you posted this! I forgot all about that!!!!!!! It was so gross. That blankey is now covered in germs and they're gonna use it to wrap her back up, guarantee it.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

My child was adopted from China. After flying 20 hours, we were on our final leg of the trip. It was a small plane and there were no changing tables on the plane, not even in the restroom. My child had diarrhea, so you know what? I changed her on the floor, right outside the restroom (before the plane took off). I used a changing pad, which I disinfected with wipes. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. I'm not sure of Tyler's situation. I would think airports in the USA would have changing tables, but who knows?

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

What? You can change diapers wherever. Don't parent shame.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Laughing my ass off at this thread. Love the folks who deposit their dirty diapers on my street.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Obviously I would have no idea the answer to this, but do all men's rooms have changing tables? If not, do all airports have one of those family restrooms?

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

I live in michigan, have flown out of that airport many times. All of the terminals are very new, the oldest one is like 14 years old. They have very nice bathrooms.

I was happy to see a sharps container in there so I'm guessing the men's room has changing tables. If not, the sinks are ok plenty big enough.

I don't remember if they have family restrooms, probably the newest terminals do, not sure if the oldest one does because I never needed them back then (used to work there too)

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Most men's bathrooms don't have changing tables. What else would have you do in that situation? Certainly not allow the baby to sit in a disgusting diaper, i would hope.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Uhm I don't live in the US so correct me if I am wrong but don't most airports have changing rooms?

You have to search for them because sometimes for some stupid reason changing rooms and bathrooms aren't located next to each other. But there are changing rooms present I'm willing to bet.

I have not seen the scene so maybe I shouldn't judge but could it be that he was a bit too lazy to look for one? Was the plane was already boarding ( again I haven't seen the footage)? Was it a poopy diaper, lol I feel like I'm getting too much into the detail but my point is

Why not change your kid's diaper 15-20 minutes before your plane boards? Why not locate where the changing rooms in the first place, in case of a poopy diaper so you can run towards it .

Both of them seem to lack a bit of common sense when it comes to parenting if you ask me and are kinda in over their heads. Catelynn went on a epic Twitter rant about how she was an adult and could have another child if she wanted to when people told her it wasn't a good idea And bam Nova is born and she is completely overwhelmed with taking care of her and they kind of totally underestimated how tough it would be.

I know she has issues with anxiety and depression and I am not bashing her for it. I just think they did not think things through AT ALL before having Nova.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Just playing devil's advocate herewhat if she dirtied her diaper right as they were boarding? Was Tyler supposed to miss their flight so that he could hunt down the nearest restroom?

As a parent of three, I can tell you that kids poop at the most inconvenient times.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

Well I am sure he could have alerted the boardinv staff saying he has to change the diaper and come back later

The boarding process of what 200 people? takes a while and they wait for all passengers (usually) before they take off.

Or he could change the baby on the plane immediately; when everyone is still busy with with seating themselves. I am willing to bet the on flight crew would direct/help him.

If you ask me both alternatives are better than having to change the baby at the floor.

Look I understand that sometimes you need to break 'the rules' as a parent. I completely understand that you sometimes gotta do what you gotta do.

But as I said before I feel like Cate & Ty lack a bit of common sense when it comes to parenting.

Just my two cents. :)

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

What if everyone is on the plane and they're waiting to shut the doors because somebody had to go find a bathroom? First you're under the impression that boarding agents give a *beep* and most likely they don't. Then you suggest he change the diaper while on the plane right before take off? What makes you think other people want to smell that in an enclosed tube, prior to takeoff or not? He had a blanket on the floor, he changed the diaper, Nova is still alive and from what we know, didn't suffer any illness from it. I think it's time to get over it. And yes changing the diaper on the floor before boarding is much better than either of your suggestions. Your suggestions affect a lot of other people and they really shouldn't have to deal with that.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

A plane doesn't take off that easily they call people who are late repeatedly and than make the decision to leave. Again as I said there are like what 200 people boarding at the same time, it takes a while. Plenty of time to RUSH, to the changing room I would think.

What makes you think that the 200-500+ people or more in that closed area would like to smell AND SEE a diaper changed?

I think it's time to get over it.

I already am 'over it'. The previous poster asked a question and I responded with alternatives as to what I would do so again and I did.

Dear Warden. You were right. Salvation lies within.

Uh, no. It take about 10 minutes to board. Once the doors are closed, that's it. All the on board activities are not counted. The airline waits for no one.

Where would he change it? The bathroom? There is barely enough room for a person and no changing tables.

I guess I'm a bad Aunt, because I changed my nephew's diaper in a gas station on the trunk of a car. When the diaper is dirty you change it wherever.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

They would not wait for someone to hunt down a bathroom, change a diaper and return. Once they close the doors, that's it.

This happened to me once. We changed my daughter's diaper 15 minutes before we had to board the plane but of course she went as we were getting ready to board. We opened our suitcase, layed her blanket down on the clothes and changed her right there. It was either that or miss our flight.

Re: Changing the diaper in the airport? Eww

I've been planes lots of times and it usually doesn't take that long to broad even if it is a full flight. If you're ordering/eating food or going to the bathroom or are about to go by the time they say it's time to start boarding that's when you basically need to rush yourself so you don't miss your flight. To top it off your gate is almost never by a bathroom. You can usually see one from where you're standing but it'll still take a few minutes to walk there and back.add that to the time it would take to change a diaper, especially if it was a poopy one.

And they do not wait for all passengers to Board. If you are not on a plane by a certain time they will leave you because they can not mess up their flight schedules. I know this since one time I almost missed my flight, if it weren't for me running to my gate.

he could do that, but there would be a lot of angry & annoyed people if he did that. He would basically be holding up a line & taking up seats. Or he could have squeezed himself & the baby into a too tiny for one person bathroom.

Sometimes I think posters here do not have kids, you change your kid wherever you can.
