Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip : Is it worth watching the one season?

Is it worth watching the one season?

With the good rating on IMDb, I've always wanted to check this show out. Since it was canceled and the characters aren't going to continue on, is it worth it to watch the one season? No spoilers please.

Thanks.

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

Yes it is. Very good show.
And Sorkin knew it was going to be canceled so the ending is true series finally.

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

Would very highly recommend watching it! Yes it's only one season, but its a complete show from beginning to end! Of course I wish there was more, but what is there is brilliant and shouldn't be missed!

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

Great show - do not miss it! I'm still hoping it can be re-incarnated with many of the same people in the near future. Just superior television, exactly what must-see tv really was.

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

Absolutely! No question! A word of caution though you're going to angry, genuinely angry at TPTB who were responsible for it being canceled. It's THAT good.

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

I believe that's true, that he knew it was going to be cancelled. Just read about it today. Ratings were low and they were losing a lot after Heroes, which ran immediately before them. There was some discussion of three more shows, but I don't know if that ever materialized.

As for whether or not you should watch it, think about it this way, Would you watch a movie or mini series that got a good IMDb rating? I'm sure A Few Good Men and The Social Network have good ratings. So this is the same writer, (with contributions from a few others) writing about 10 times as much material.

And, not to spoil, but I was not at all diaappointed in the ending. Ended much better than most series that are cancelled.

Okay JohnBonDon,

Here's the source I was citing: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,226092,00.html

And arespilgrim is right, no major plots left unresolved. Did you watch Sports Night? Ending was kind of similar, but better, I thought.

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

Please! Faux news doesn't count as a source normally, but in this instance it's ridiculous! Yes, they "reported" imminent cancellation a short time before the network ordered the back 9. I don't think they covered that full-season pick-up.

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

Thanks for the input, guys. That's the response I was looking for. I'll definitely check it out.

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

This is kind of late, but I wanted to reiterated on my original response. Even if this show ended up in the air, with the creators not realizing to would be cancelled, it would still be worth watching. Why? Because, first off, Aaron Sorkin created and wrote most of it. He's one of the very best talents we have in show biz today. He's brilliant, thought provoking, and hilarious at times. Anything he's created is certainly worth a look. Second, this show did last a full season. That's what, 22 episodes? That's like ten movies right there. So, imagine renting ten movies created and written by Aaron Sorkin. Even if a few of the last ones were disappointing, they'd still be well worth watching.

Another reason to watch, of course, is to see Amanda Peet. Love her. She's so smart, classy, beautiful. I'd watch her in anything. Not surprised Sorkin picked her to lead the series. I also liked the actress who played Margaret. Not sure what her name is, but I thought she was terrific. Steven Weber, Matthew Perry and D.L. Hughley were also good, I thought. And, finally, this series gives you some insight into how network television is run. That's something worth finding out, at least to me.

Re: Is it worth watching the one season?

I just like to think of it as a long miniseries. :-P It's fantastic, definitely worth checking out.
