Why is it okay to have so many white dolls from different companies but black and multiracial dolls should be just limited to two???? Because barbie was out did that stop cabbage patch and so forth??? And i'm not shocked once again Daymond invest in a deal that involves black people.. he always does cause the other don't

I wrote a long article about Barbie and found that girls of "color" actually prefer white dolls with blonde hair. The black Barbies don't sell anywhere as near the amount, and that includes the multi-racial buying public.
Those two doll makers should've included a white doll into their roster. The exclusion of one spoke volumes.

Yes, but the woman said she couldn't find any. I thought to myself, "she didn't try very hard." I wouldn't invest in someone with such poor researching skills.

But they're not. If you search, you'll find literally dozens of multi-cultural dolls on the market. Their product isn't unique and it is overly expensive.

Kevin was right that the big guys have done these dolls with limited success. This little company is up against the goliaths. Yes licensing is the way to go. It's like taking a chance on this product and hoping times have changed and it gets broad acceptance. If not try again in another 5 years and then 5 years after that.

But what are they going to license? They have nothing. There is nothing that prevents a large company from producing an ethnic doll. Nothing at all. There is nothing there for them to license. Even the name isn't worth anything.

Most American doll age children are non-white, so you'd think there would be a market, but it just hasn't appeared for some reason. I like those two, but I don't think they're going to succeed.

I thought their story of how the doll came about was bogus. I mean they were smart to come up with something that would pull on the heartstrings, but it came off as just a marketing too they created.

It's obvious to me that they were patterning the dolls after the American Girls franchise. But the American Girl dolls come with backstories, and people can buy all kinds of great outfits. Plus, the hair isn't just nappy and black/brown, it's a multitude of color. What these two are doing is actually limiting doll choice, not expanding it. You're limited to brown skin, you're limited to brown/black nappy hair. The dolls all have big noses and brown eyes. Little girls of ALL color, especially in western societies, want real diversity.

Yeah, the story seemed bogus to me, too. In this day and age where so many singers and actresses are black I doubt that the beauty ideals anywhere are so white. Also, there is no way that the girls have not picked up on the fact that their mother is a 9.5

I'm sure more than a few of them thought they would be considered racist. The fact is, those dolls were nothing special. They were dull as dishwater, and look at their outfits! Total crap.

I also thought the dolls looked pretty ugly. I mean, yeah, I understand that some kids have different features and they want a doll that has features that look like them. But, I don't see any kid wanting a doll that ugly, whether they're black, brown, or asian.
You know, my nieces are into those DC Superhero girl dolls. Bumblebee is black and they play with her. So, I think the lesson here is that if they really want to sell ethnic dolls they need to give them superpowers.

It only pissed me off because what they said was *beep* It's extremely easy to find dolls of color. (I know because i date single moms with daughters of color) 80 bucks for a doll that doesn't do anything? Not even from a popular movie franchise?

I was thinking about how come people don't have fat dolls?
These dolls were not Barbie slim, but they were a good figure. I want to see a company try and roll out some hefty size dolls.
