Modern Family : They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid 40s
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
I doubt it since Nathan Fillion is a one-time guest star, but why would that bother anyone who isn't a feminazi battle axe?

No, he's signed on for an arc
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Not surprised.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
What the bleep is a feminazi battle axe? Is that like a conservaniza jackhole?
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid 40s
The May-December thing with Jay/Gloria is barely tolerable; and only because they were a good bit older when they began dating.
But for a guy that is old enough to be her father (he said he was 22 years older) and has recently graduated high school, the ick factor is off the charts.

Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Not to include the creepy way they hooked up by Phil inadvertently pimping her out. I've been watching every episode and did Haley and Andy break up last season? Because i don't recall anything happening this season or was it at the airport last season?
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Hey, here's the way I look at it:
A 22 year age difference? I figure that if a 24 year age difference is A-OK for the soon-to-be leader of the United States of America and, by default, the free world, then I'd say a 22 year age difference should be A-OK for a silly, but often entertaining sitcom.
Ditto for (inadvertently) pimping his daughter out if the future president can say it's ok to call his daughter a, well, you-know-what, then I'd say Phil was incredibly subtle.

Our future president? Interesting, i didn't know Hillary and Bill had such a large age difference. ;-)

What??? You're part of the conspiracy, too???

Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Haley is actually several years out of high school at this point.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Recently graduated high school? I haven't watched in a while but I believe she's about 23. I know her 21st birthday is long passed. That is not "recently graduated high school".
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
the Jay/Gloria thing is beyond believable. especially now. they absolutely should not show jay without a shirt on. Actually, the actor that plays Manny looks closer to Glorias age.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
There's a lot they could do with that kind of story line but I gotta say, felt quite uncomfortable to me. Seeing the kissing scene I was like wow, seriously. But who knows where they're gonna go with it.
At least it could start a new story for Haley venturing into the world of TV and such, they just dropped her photography thing before so maybe they go a little further with this one.
Had to edit since it's "Haley", always been writing it wrong :D

I don't care about the age difference, but they brought in Andy to have Hayley grow up relationship wise, while attempting to do similarly in her business pursuits. Now they have her putting out because some random guy paid for a nice meal, and she's hopping from one aimless, pseudo job to another. Make up your minds.

Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Young adults lose direction in their lives all the time. They don't have to always be straight and narrow.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Be that as it may, as the season has unfolded it seems like they attempted to give Haley some direction and then decided to chuck it all and go with this plot.
I'm not going to be too hard on them, thoughModern Family has never been strong on character development. They've regressed more than grown over the years.

Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Anyone remember when the Dunphys were talking about their kids, Alex the smart one, Luke will find something he's good at, and Haley will marry someone who's good at something because she's "so pretty" well not we have that someone who she can be with and not have to contribute to society
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
1/2 plus 7 = fair game, barely uncreepy but that's the "rule"
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Looks like they're putting Hayley in a lot of adult-oriented plot devices like the one where she helped Phil bring some hipsters to gentrify the house he was trying to sell.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
The thing is the actress is in her 20s, not in her late teens.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Not arguing that Haley should still be in teen-themed plots, but just observing it.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Don't know what's ridiculous about it. As a 56 year old woman, I'm here to say that as 21 years old, I started a 5-year relationship with a gentleman 30 years older than I was. It was a healthy and happy situation. It taught me a lot and helped make me the person I am today. And that's not such a bad individual. I've been married to my husband for 28 years and have raised 2 wonderful children. And yes, my now grown children know all about the years that mom spent with the "older man." Hopefully, my being open about it has gone a long way in teaching my kids tolerance and honesty. They're mature and smart enough to understand that you don't judge others' life situations - especially about things that are no one else's business!
Sorry, but there's nothing inherently "creepy" about relationships between 2 consenting adults. No matter what the age difference. It totally depends on the people involved. No one else can judge it. If you have an issue with it, I think that's on you.

Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
You've got that right. You'd think the people here are 5 years old. Absurdly immature.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Just because age difference doesn't matter to you doesn't mean it doesn't matter to other people. Especially when the younger person is that young. A 21 year old person dating a 41 year old person is different from a 41 year old person dating a 61 year old person (even though that's weird too).

Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
What world do you guys live in? She is in her 20's, for fck's sake. Why are you all finding this creepy? Just because YOU think it's weird doesn't mean it is.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
i thought it was funny in last nights episode that she looked younger than his daughter
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Why not? She's a grown-ass woman.
Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid
Hmm. I think it's short of "ridiculous."
Sure, it might be a bit discomfiting or even somewhat inappropriate but aren't such situations pretty much the basis for a big chunk of the show's humor?

A wealthy celebrity dating a much younger woman?? Why, that's unheard of!!!

Re: They're not seriously gonn have Hayley start dating a guy in his mid 40s
Respectfully, this is fiction and not your life decision. While I really enjoyed Hayley and Andy's arc together, I'm interested to see where this takes Hayley as a person. But, I will say this, if this is too much for you to watch because it makes you "uncomfortable," simply watch something more your taste. There are plenty of sitcoms for you to choose! I see no reason to get so upset because of two fictional adults consenting to a relationship with one another. You'd think by some of these posts that this is the first time in a television series this has occurred?not even touching upon the numerous people in relationships with large age gaps.

C'mon. This is ridiculous. They teased us with the Hayley/Andy storyline and are now putting her with a guy more than 20 years her senior.
