I can't wait. I love Todd Solondz and the fact that he continues to make dark yet comedic thought-provoking films in spite of the backlash he gets for them. It has become more challenging for him to get funding for his films based on the subject matter he explores. I cannot WAIT to see this one.

Yes, I am verry excited to see Todd Solondz and Paul Reubens working together. I hope they are able to play off each other creatively and make something very dark, very twisted, and very funny.

I agree, Solondz is one of my favorite directors, and Reubens is my favorite actor of all time. It's a dream come true.

I'm looking forward to Todd Solondz's next movie, but I have to admit - casting Paul Reubens is awkward. Reubens was charged of child pornography. Solondz's movies usually contain a theme or a character that is pedophile. I know it's just a movie, but it still feels a bit uneasy.
Just my first reaction to seeing the announcement of this movie. Don't bash me.

Paul Reubens was never CHARGED with child pornography. He was falsely accused.

Reubens had all charges against him dropped because he didn't actually have anything that could legitimately hold up as child pornography in court though. Guy got railroaded on that case, cut him some slack. It was such crap it never even went to trial.

I LOVE HAPPINESS! Storytelling, Welcome to the Dollhouse and Palindromes are all wonderful as well, but HAPPINESS is a perfect film! Can't wait to see this one!!!

Don't forget Fear, Anxiety & Depression, his first feature film - although he would prefer that it be forgotten, apparently. I managed to find it on a file sharing network recently and found it charming and funny. The style is kind of early Woody Allen-esque. Also Todd looks like such a incredible dork in it - he's hilarious just to look at (which might have something to do with his lack of fondness). Stanley Tucci is in it, believe it or not. Also, an intriguing, rather photogenic guy named Max Cantor (who plays the Tony Roberts-like straight man, a la Woody Allen), who died a couple of years later of a heroin overdose while researching a story on Daniel Rakowitz - infamous schizophrenic cannibal from the Lower East Side of NYC

I have seen all of his films, and I loved Palindromes and Welcome to the Dollhouse the most. I can't tell you how excited I am over this.

definitely looking forward to this. "palindromes" is the kind of movie that proves that cinema can (and ought to be, imho) as comforting as it is disturbing. solondz' work is vital to contemporary cinema and i'm very happy to hear that he is working on something new.

I'm LOOKING VERY FORWARD to this latest from Solondz, who made one of my favorite films of the 90's (HAPPINESS), and has yet to disappoint with his other work (WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE, STORYTELLING, PALINDROMES) This LIFE DURING WARTIME sounds like just the ticket just hope Reubens is still in the cast! :)

And Paris HIlton? Seriously? That would be so awesome. I really just think everything Solondz touches turns to gold. I watched storytelling a few days ago and its such a well-written movie. Like one of the most fascinating essays on the art of storytelling I've ever read.

cosnidering he used most of his own money in his previous film, and believing he would have a very hard time finding people to fund his nex project, yes i'm pretty excited for the new work of solond, whom i consider one of the best american directors at the momment. and very underapriciated too.

Todd Solondz is a true auteur, and any film he makes is a great contribution to the world of cinema.
I am really excited about his new film! Happiness is one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. Funny in a really disturbing way.
Can't wait for this film to come out in 2009!

I'm not close minded at all. His films are sick and really are just a waste of money and time but since the liberal media and ACLU bullsh!t stand behind him I guess it is ok. At least Peckinpah did his movies with class.

I know people are defending the guy and I understand that he's a good filmmaker. I think he's good. I think he has a unique vision and is a very promising director/writer. However, you have to admit he has a fixation on pedophilia. Every film he's made have an element of pedophilia to them. Some are centralized around the idea.

I'm looking forward to this. I've liked all of his movies because he gives you something difficult to try and absorb instead of playing it safe. It's hard to find theatres that show his films, though. Even in Houston. I was bummed out because when Palindromes came here, it played downtown at the Angelika, but for only one week. As soon as I was able to see it, it was no longer there or anywhere, so I had to wait six months for the DVD release. It was worth the wait, though. It reminded me of one of Luis Bunuel's moviesThat Obscure Object of Desire, or Discreet Charm of the Bourgousie. It was disturbing and surrealand I mean that as a high compliment.

Yes, Todd Solondz is one of my favorites. I actually haven't seen all of Happiness yet but I got it yesterday with Netflix and plan on finishing later this morning.
