The Time Traveler's Wife : This movie should be banned

We are watching an older man forcing himself onto a kid. Would it be OK if a 20 year old start to groom a 6 year old for a future marriage? This movie sickened me to the stomach. The least they could have done is give it an NC-17. No kid should be allowed to watch this mess.

Funny, I had so much trouble accepting the plot holes in his time travel abilities that I didn't even have time to think about that. I mean, it is not like he was seducing her or anything.

The first time Henry met his wife was in the library. It wasnt till later in his life he met the child version of his wife. Which I think wasnt so bad. He was already inlove with her as a women rather than a child. Arh hard to explain on here.

He was not trying to seduce her, he was only making sure she was not feeling bad while she as waiting for him. This was very clear when she got angry with him when he told her that he got married. He never told her it was her.

It is also not that he could choose where or when to go to her. It just happend. Al he did was talk to her and assure her when he would come back. He explained that when he as going through her diary.

First of allare you married? Or in a relationship? It would be like your husband/bf going back in time to "meet" you as a child. He wasn't trying to seduce her at all. And would you feel different if it were the woman time traveling back to meet the boy version of her husband? There is nothing inappropriate about this movie. I think a child younger than 12 might not be able to comprehend the movie in the first place. There is no reason for a young child to watch the movie, but there is nothing wrong with it. They just wouldn't understand it, therefore might be misinterpreted.

Nothing inappropriate for all the reasons that everyone has already stated. I recall the one scene where he kisses her (I took her to be in her early 20's at that point, maybe 22) and she says that is the first time he ever kissed her.

I've read the book four times, once after seeing the movie, and I've already deleted a lot of the film from my brain- not even intentionally. It's just that the ideas and the characters felt a lot more powerful in the novel, and for me the film only touched lightly on the best parts of the story.

She wasnt 20 or 22, she was 18. Not to mention, he forced himself on her, then seduced her again in a matter of seconds. I dont get why this scene was added. This was a very confusing scene especially when you consider the events leading up to the kiss.

It does seem a tad bit pedo-ish, travelling back in time and telling a little girl about how pretty she will be in the future. That being said, he had no control over his time travelling ability and through-out the movie, Henry came across as a person who was caring. Therefore, lets give him the benefit of the doubt regarding his motive in talking to his kid wife.

Claire wasnt any angel either. She blatantly seduced the young Henry in the car.

The movie itself was kind of disappointing. i read the book just so i could see the film lol i don't like reading books after i watch the movie. The book itself is kind of confusing too, so I personally thought that the director and the script writer did a pretty good job in shortening the perplexing book. I wouldn't recommend the book, because it's not that much better than the film; however, as always, I thought rachel mcadam's acting was superb. she played and characterized clare very well.

You know, there is nothing wrong with the movie. However, there is something wrong with you, if you see any kind of sexual subtext in the scence between Henry and little Claire. When I first heard people say that stuff about the movie I was like WTF?!?! How do you even come up with this stuff? Its really sad that some people cant see a scene with a grown-up man a little girl talking without getting weird thoughtsBut of course one can argue the Claire is emotionally seduced by HenryClaire does so herself when she is angry in the movie and its an issue in the book between them (as far as I can remember).you know, I think its called a plot-line.

You should really know about the movie before you assume it to be something it isn't in any way. It is a beautiful love story which is far from sickening in any way, shape, or form. Please do not make it something it isn't. First of all, the first time Henry meets Claire (because of his time traveling) is when she is almost the exact same age he is, she knows who he is already since he met her when she was just a little girl but he doesn't. His life does not go in a straight line even though hers does because she's-well-normal. Even though when Claire is 6 it's the first time she's met him, it isn't the first time he has met her- he first meets her when she is in her 20's and so is he. So, he didn't meet a six year old and plan he wanted to marry her- he met a woman nearly the exact same age as him at a library who already knew him and fell in love with her and then when he is older travels back in time (he cannot control it by the way) and lands in the forest outside her house when she was much younger. You must have not paid close attention to the movie if you did see it at all. Secondly, he NEVER forced himself onto her. EVER. I do not know how you got that idea. He is kind and reserved towards Claire and tells her stories and eats sandwiches with her whenever he lands in the forest when she is six. It is making ME sick to my stomach that you would even come up with that.

Anybody who got that this was him forcing himself onto a kid or being some sort of pedophile needs to get counseling as fast as possible. You obviously have pedophile tenancies if you actually saw this in the movie. so please, before you act on your urges, get help. And I've seen fairytale marriages where the guy first met the girl when she was still a kid and he in his teens. And the girl had a crush on the guy who finally returns the affection when they got older and then get married. You can really see the happiness in those women's eyes when they step up to the altar and they realize their childhood dream had come true and they did end up with their dream guy. In the book she was 15, the movie makes it 18 tho, i noticed a few dates were different in the film. In the book when Gomez met future henry it was the year 1991, in the film its 1995. Also Ingrid is missing. A lot more is missing but i don't mind.

There was absolutely nothing sexual about his interaction with the young Clare in the meadow. Groom her for marriage? What movie where you watching?

I saw it too, and in fact, it's briefly acknowledged in the movie that what Henry was doing was creepy. Right after he has his vasectomy, Clare says that she never had a choice because he was there all her life, forcing her to love him from her childhood . That's what bothered me the most about this movie, and I'm glad that she brought it up, but her complaint never became a major plot point. It definitely creeped me out when he kissed her.

The first time I saw this movie I thought it was maybe the girl's dad would be the one that shot him, after the skeet shooting scene indicating her daddy was an NRA member. Finding him out in the field on his property with his daughter, thinking he was R. Kelly and busted a cap in his ass.
