Closing the IMDb Boards is Homophobic - Gatiss Must Speak Out

The IMDb message boards are an international forum, in which the LGBT community from around the world is able to utilize a safe space to speak freely without fear of reprisals or oppression. Scary fact: in many countries, homosexuality is illegal, and in some places even punishable by death!

We can't risk the lives of the LGBT community by demanding that they move to social media. If they weren't afraid of being outed, they would already be on social media!

Mark Gatiss needs to be socially responsible and use his position in society to push back against the closing of the IMDb message boards!

Pass the word, spread it around,
IMDb LGBT are strong and proud!

Re: Closing the IMDb Boards is Homophobic - Gatiss Must Speak Out

Ehm, in case you are not trolling, I don't think it's likely and frankly speaking a lot of people would say Facebook/Twitter is perfect platform for LGBT community and it doesn't need these boards to be represented or something.
As for Gatiss, this is the guy who didn't make Johnlock canon and made clear in his interviews he would pick entertainment over representation, so hardly he would care about imdb boards just because it's supposedly good for LGBT community sometimes.

And, if anything, he may be glad to see an opportunity to publicly criticise his work ended.

Re: Closing the IMDb Boards is Homophobic - Gatiss Must Speak Out

Actually a good point. It's quite possible. I mean these boards allowed people to criticise his (and not only his) works in detail, in long posts, with gathering a lot links to other critical reviews and all, and such criticism was pretty easy to find as the boards allowed to preserve it. While on Twitter or even on Facebook criticism is more short in lenght, more swift and quickly goes away, pushed back by new media.
The less platforms for public criticism the better. It will probably help different scriptwriters, showrunners, producers, etc. to maintain their safe spaces, while humming "Everything is awesome" .

Re: Closing the IMDb Boards is Homophobic - Gatiss Must Speak Out

Right. I bet content producers generally aren't sad to see the boards go.

Is the OP serious or satire?

I hope it's the latter but honestly can't tell anymore.

Such uncertainty is arguably indicative of the internet-addled western world beginning to reach peak absurdity

Not a prospect one should relish.
