I am very open about what is considered horror, so even stuff I draw the line on I can usually see why someone else would consider it horror. Very subjective stuff.

Threads 1984 - imo yes, since nuclear war is the ultimate horrifying act to me
I Stand Alone 1998 - borderline, but yes, esp. since the director is known for disturbing, rather horrific material and he purposesly does stuff to make the viewer uncomfortable
Watership Down 1978 - yes, gory/bloody deaths of woodland creatures and I generally accept scary kids' films as horror
Delicatessen 1991- no but it's been years since I've seen it
Snowtown 2011 - no, but it's close. Bleak, harrowing crime drama, but not quite blunt and grotesque enough for me to be horror.
Requiem for a Dream 2000 - I don't conisder it, but it's one of the most depressing and bleak films I've ever seen
13 Tzameti 2005 - no, but it's a hell of a suspense crime thriller
10 Rillington Place 1971 - can't recall this one enough, but I think there was a dark psychological element involved that might push it into the horror realm
Tetsuo 1989- yes but only saw it once over 25 years ago
Big Bad Woles 2013 - not at least when compared to the directors' other film Rabies
The Horseman 2008 - yes, since it has unwavering brutality in parts, if memory serves

wow, nice detailed response, thanks! Pretty much agree with your opinions, and like yourself I'm very open on what might be a 'horror' film. Maybe too open with films i like that are not horror films at all

I think it's a great movie, but I would call it more of a sci-fi/thriller. And IMDb does not have it listed as horror either.

Yep, that's cooljust checkin. I remember when it was released there was a lot of talk about it on this board, but I never got around to seeing it.

like znep said it's a great film and def worth a view imo. i would consider it a horror, but then we've established that the only criteria for that is that someone makes a film and i watch it.

Triangle is more than acceptable for the challenge, plus it's a great mind-bending movie so the sooner the better. I think there are plenty of people that would consider it a horror movie, certainly enough so that no one would blink if you counted it.

Well, I just just checked it out and so it does.
In most cases I could care less about genre restrictions, but applying that label to this movie is pretty out-there. I'm gonna try to edit out the "Horror" classification on IMDb. Who knows what will happen.

thats good, cos i follow imdb genre settings when it comes to horror considering how strict they (usually) are. I knew nothing about that movie and was thinking of watching it this october challenge, luckily i didn't.

IMHO go ahead and count practically any giallo as horror most of them have enough horror elements and, unless it focuses strictly on the police proceedings, etc. then it counts. I saw Psychic a long time ago and don't recall it clearly, so can't comment beyond that.
