The Exorcist : O/T - Legion 2016 (Exorcist III Director's Cut)

Who here has seen the recently director's cut for Exorcist III? What did you think?

To be honest I wasn't impressed and still think the theatrical cut is better.

I recently watched it. Given what I had heard about it, I don't think it was as great as the people I spoke to made it out to be.

The extra/restored scenes are good and all, but I found the ending extremely anticlimactic (this could just be a case of the movie just not having a good ending either way though).

Overall I liked the original version better as well.

A good majority of the restored scenes didn't do much to alter the theatrical cut. A lot of intro / exit frames which had been edited out to reduce runtime and ultimately they were unnecessary for storytelling.

The only extra scenes which deviated from the theatrical cut were the new interviews between Kindrman and Gemini in his cell and of course the alternate ending.

I'm with you on that one.

I agree with Professor. There's really nothing earth-shattering about what the edition has to offer, and the original is fine the way it is. I'm sure the extras will end up on YouTube eventually if they're not already there. If I were going to buy the Blu ray (versus streaming), I'd either get the one that's already out, or buy the collection (which includes both versions of the original, The Heretic, Exorcist III, and both prequels).

If you just want the Collector's Edition for the sake of having it, I'd at least wait till it's cheaper.

I also agree with the Professor wholeheartedly if you didn't pick up on that in my previous post.

The only things stopping me from getting the collector's edition is I don't want copies of the Heretic or Dominion - both were pretty terrible.

I already have the Director's cut of the original, The Beginning, and the theatrical cut of Exorcist III. All I really need.

well my opinion on it being that it was an incomplete restoration of the legion cut but it was interesting seeing a different take of the exorcist 3 but I do feel that the ending of the exorcist 3 had more weight and power to it then legions ending being that he just shot the gemini killer and that is it. may not have been a great cut but again interesting to see that version
