it's all your fault trolls. Now where can I have an intelligent conversation with various lovers/haters of a film from different parts of the world?

I feel you. I've been the biggest IMDb creeper/reader for really as long as I can remember, over half my freaking life. Movie trivia is our thing! So freaking sad.

It's where I come to discuss spoilers and theories etc. Now I can only watch a movie or show and not be able to have an intelligent conversation about it ever again. :-(

@StevieCRox C'mon, there are other websites. Besides, if enough people leave IMDb, they'll probably bring the boards back.

I also talk about movies on www.reddit.com/r/movies but they don't have a dedicated section to a particular movie you feel like discussing. We're losing a great place.

Maybe reddit can evolve a bit to fill the void. I know particular movies get their own sub occasionally, but there are rules around creating them. I think less popular movies will slip through the cracks unless seasoned redditors are creating subs.

Yes this excision really sucks. Like you, I've lurked and contributed here for many many years. I know Trolls are rampant, but it's like giving into terrorists deciding to shut the boards down. But WHT can we do? I posted the petition to FL, but I'm not much of a social media doer. Anyway, let's all go kicking and screaming!

Are people really buying their lame trolls excuse? Wow, the naivety. Every open forum is open to abuse, it's about how you manage and moderate. Besides, only a handful of boards really had a problem - look around at any film boar that isn't a recent blockbuster or major TV show.

It's an excuse, they want you on facebook for the ad revenue

It's proper movie database like IMDb, so every movie or TV show has its own page with information and EACH movie or tv show has their own forums (top left bubble icon or bottom of page next to Reviews), no lame subreddit or generic forums which popped out in last few days can match that.

On top of that you can easily export your ratings and watchlist in IMDb in bottom of each list to CSV and easily import from these files both into your new TMDb account.

Plus TMDb is around since 2008 edited by its own users unlike those forums creatd in last week, which will very quickly fade, since they don't contain discussions for each movie and database with information.

There is also Chrome browser extension to backup all your posts, though there is no way to import them automatically to TMDb, you can copypaste whatever you find worth posting there.
