Gary Marshall's biggest bomb in history, awful box office

Re: Gary Marshall's biggest bomb in history, awful box office

There was a time when I used to like Garry Marshal's movies. He's been declining since the first Princess Diaries and hit rock bottom with this one. No directing abilities whatsoever. He's obviously using his actor friends who appear in all of his films, Hector Elizondo, and that other guy who plays a policeman in a motorcycle in this one, Julia of course surely did it as a favor or something. But the film was a disaster with very few redeemable moments and a lot of cringe worthy ones. It has a few moments worth a chuckle but in general the acting was pretty horrible all around which IMO comes as a result of bad directing, improvisation and having a very poor/inexistant script. It's like he set up the camera and told the actors "okay, in this scene you're angry, say whatever, GO!"

And that clunker of a "homage" to A League of their Own, "There's no texting in soccer" WTF Garry????

I agree with everything you said, except what you said about Julia Roberts. She didn't do it as a favor, she did it for the money. She got paid $3 million for just 4 days work.

In the end, it wouldn't have mattered who Marshall got to star in this crappy movie, it would still be a pathetic movie.

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

Re: Gary Marshall's biggest bomb in history, awful box office

Yeah, well of course she got substantially paid. But what I meant was that she wouldn't have appeared in such a crappy movie if the director had been somebody else. Well, that's my assumption ;)

Re: Gary Marshall's biggest bomb in history, awful box office

The things movie buffs say i swear. How is this or any movie "pathetic" ? i mean the cast looks like they enjoyed filming it and it really didn't seem all that bad to me compared to any other family film in history.

I guess most of you in this topic expect too much out of Gary Marshall or you just don't like anything he makes anymore so you..who knows either way i said my 2 cents.

Re: Gary Marshall's biggest bomb in history, awful box office

Actually, the movie surpassed the 25 mil budget so it wasnt a bomb. Raising Helen as far as i know is his biggest bomb

Re: Gary Marshall's biggest bomb in history, awful box office

The studio only gets about half of the box office receipts and the theatre keeps the rest. The movie is a flop so far even though it cost $25 million.

Re: Gary Marshall's biggest bomb in history, awful box office

If you thought this was a bomb, you would back it up with some actual numbers. Why don't I see any box office totals???
