Hunt for the Wilderpeople : Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

no?

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Not to me. I don't care for Wes Anderson films, but I like Taiku's stuff.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

yes?

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

yes.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Moonrise Kingdom-ish, but without Bill Murray.

I'll be good I swear... I'll never see a movie ever again.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Exactly what I was thinking. Does anyone know what this style is called?

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

neo-hipster

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

If you like a Wes Anderson film or this one you're automatically a hipster? Makes sense

And I'm not sure if there's a specific name but I guess they're just quirky and artistic movies.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Hipster isn't necessarily a bad thing. Only to people who think they're too good for hipsters. This movie was pretty hipster-y, but that's a good thing. Great shots with great scenery. Taika is a very talented director.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

I find Wes Anderson films entirely, nauseatingly unwatchable, and HftW is now a very favorite film of mine - so, no. Not so much.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

I too was reminded of several Wes Anderson movies.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Totally agree. Loved every bit of it.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Have you guys seen "Beasts of The Southern Wild", I feel these two are very similar!

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

It had a bit of an indi cork to it, but the writing was actually funny and didn't come off as pretentious like every Wes Anderson film.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

For me it felt very similar to Moonrise Kingdom, without Wes Andersons main quirks (like symmetry and bold colours/patterns). This movie certainly was quirky though.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Yes, I also got a hint of it. I went to check for the director's name as well.

I will be able to decode human mind once I complete my first 1000 movies.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

the premise did remind me of Moonrise Kingdom but i thought the style was nothing like Anderson

so many movies, so little time

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Yeah Moonrise Kingdom also came to mind except with a kid and an adult instead of two kids. Hunt for the Wilderpeople was much better however.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Not to me. This was way way better than anything of Anderson's. IMO of course.

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

I wouldn't say they're too similar, but there were a few montage moments with instrumental music that had similarities to Moonrise Kingdom or TGBH so not the craziest suggestion in the world

Re: Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

Yes I know what you mean, but this was actually funny
