Collateral Beauty : Spoil the movie for me
Re: Spoil the movie for me
Only that:
characters who are themselves actors under the character played by Helen Mirren, who IS a theatre operator/actor, go in two groups: a) one two post as death and b) to act as if Howard (Will Smith)'s seeing things, and then Howard meets a new girlfriend, during his grieving over his little girl's death, and they start a happy new realtionship/beginning. Or something like that.

MAGIC=Sarah Silverman.

That wasn't the twist. The only surprise was the relationship with the counselor. Did anybody notice how the "actor" Death showed up in the flashback? They also show up as appearions in the end. Howard and his coworkers were all connected via the "actors".

Re: Spoil the movie for me
The only twist that got me was that the grief counselor who Will Smith meets with occasionally actually turns out to be his ex-wife.
Teary scene at the end. Will and Naomi Harris are crying over her dead daughter. Then, we learn Naomi's dead daughter is actually also Will's dead daughter. They were married. His dead daughter was also Naomi Harris' dead daughter. They apparently split up after the death of the daughter.
Then, they hook up again at the end of the film.
Also, the actors in the film who play Love, Death, and Time turn out to REALLY be Love, Death, and Time at the very end, and it makes no sense.
This movie gives us a double switcheroo on that point, and it makes no sense.
Do you smell taters?

Yeah, how the flying fluck did he not recognize his own wife? How far-gone was he?

I think a LOT of people missed the slightly deeper points of the story.
First of all He DID "recognize" his wife. They both recognized each other. But if you pay attention carefully, in the film the counselor mentions how her ex husband gave her a card that said something to the effect of he wishes they could have met as strangers. So essentially, they were trying to "start over" a relationship which had been marred by the death of their dead child. So when he met up with her again, he knew exactly who she was, but they were behaving as strangers. Basically, dating each other again from the start all over again. The death of their child really took a toll on them and their relationship.
Re: Spoil the movie for me
That was stupid. That wouldn't happen.

Re: Spoil the movie for me
It's a common sentiment of people with marital or relationship troubles of any kind. They wish they could start over and undo all the bad things they said, and all the fights they had, and just love each other again.
So yes, it would happen. And does happen all the time. It happens in principle every time a couple declares "Let's just start over". Which is something people say ALL the time.
In this case, they don't just do it in principle, they take the charade to an extreme level. But I liked it. They are trying to lose the negativity of associating each other with the memories of their lost child. The movie isn't wrong. The divorce statistics for parents who lose a child are VERY high.

Read my post 'My take on plot..
I left after 10 minutes
I ignored the reviews and tried to watch it. So many great actors, it can't be that bad. After 10 minutes i couldn't take it anymore so I just went to the next screen and watched Rogue One again. I have only walked out on two movies, Fifty Shades of Black and this one. Don't waste your money! Wait until it's in the Walmart bin for $3.

Your loss. It was deeper than people are giving it credit for.
