Collateral Beauty : "THERE'S SO MUCH MORE AT STAKE HERE THEN YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND"

Correct me if I'm wrongbut this move is about a wealthy advertising executive that loses his daughter (to some accident or disease) and then he spirals into a depression and quits his job. So his other rich New York friends try and help him out of depression.

What exactly is at stake? These people aren't trying to land a man on Mars. They're not inventing the cure for cancer. This is about one man and his struggle with grief. We can all identify with that - I've been through it as well - but it's not exactly "high stakes."

Skipping this overly dramatic cornfest!

I was going to skip it just from the trailers, but your post reinforces what I thought

Ha, true. I actually laughed at the trailer because I felt like great its another Will Smith movie where he's telling me to be inspired or if I want something in life I should go get it.

Took one line and ran with it, huh?
Its actually almost inconsequential in the context that it was said in other than to serve as defining character motivation. That was from Whit (Ed Norton's character) and was said in a meeting. Not sure why they used it in the trailer other than for effect.
Correction: I do understand why they put it there but it will only make sense if you've seen at least half of the movie.

I just read a review of the script and it's so much worse than the trailer makes it seem. and apparently there are 2 twists at the end that the reviewer didn't reveal, and i can only imagine how bad they are. that said, he doesn't quit his job, and in fact him not quitting his job is an important plot point. anyway, i've gone from "you couldn't drag me to this movie" to "i really want to see just how bad this movie is going to be."

Oh man I can't wait to see these corny twists!
