That's what I kept thinking, Jax should have felt that. I'm chalking it up to writers swiss cheese memory. The same thing that happened on Quantum Leap which is why they wrote in the comments about Sam having swiss cheese memory.

exactly and Jack still felt uncomfortable because Stein was still frightened
