Re: does 'sharpay' sounds like a name of a black person?

That's not what the OP said. They said it sounded like a black person's name, not a ghetto name! What, all black people are ghetto now? Somebody forgot to tell Corbin Bleu!

It sounds like a black girls name that would be in the ghetto you moron. Generally poor black families commonly use those types of names.

FYI theirs no "Black name" only regional names
Mandeep, Harjeep..etc. = Middle Eastern-Region
Jamilla, Tanisha, Jahvante..etc - Black-wrong, it's American Ghetto
Chang, Dao-Ming, Ming..etc -Asian-Region

Middle Eastern is a region, but i could have easily said brown. Those aren't 'american ghetto' names you idiot. They are taken from black men/women in my college classes. Those are common BLACK names. You'll never see an asian or white man in the ghetto with one of those names unless they illegally changed it. Lastly, asian is not a region.

Is everyone on this board 12 years old? Jesus..

Re: does 'sharpay' sounds like a name of a black person?

Actually your typical "ghetto" names orignated in the sixties when African Americans decided they wanted to kind of seperate themselves away from white people in a way. and gave their children names like that. I learned that in my history class. my grandmother did that with my mom's name. I figured you should know. And the majority of them were NOT poor black families either.

Re: does 'sharpay' sounds like a name of a black person?

I understand what you mean by different names. I understand I'm black and black people generally have different sounding names than white people or others. BUT

why does it even matter?

LOL. You don't have to delude yourselves into thinking that this doesn't make sense. What the OP means is that the name sounds like a stereotypical name for a stereotypical black girl. Yeah, it does.
