X-Men: Apocalypse : Quicksilver's sequence was awful

Quicksilver's sequence was awful

This movie was chock full of cringy scenes, but if I had to make a list, Quicksilver's run would be in the top 5.

Why try and improve what isn't broken? His scene in DoFP was perfectly executed, with a good tasteful song. In Apocalypse, they made him a literal cartoon character, threw in a song that made it awkward, because.. The 80's I guess.

We already saw him goofing around with time slowed down around him, why not show all the kids getting blown the *beep* out of the mansion without us seeing anything at all, just them zipping around making us wonder wtf is going on, then reveal it was Quicksilver? Would have been funnier seeing the girl still holding her fish bowl wondering how the hell? Than seeing him carefully putting things back into place again like he did in DoFP. They tried so hard to up the ante, but it didn't work.

And what's with Quicksilver being such a weirdo in this one? Yes, he was a weirdo in the last one, but he was just a kid, a quirky kid. Here we find him 10 years later still just being a complete manchild. Why doesn't he have a job? It could be something funny like a mailman. Instead he stays in his mom's basement playing PAC-man.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

I think maybe you're thinking too much. Relax and enjoy it for what it is. A film.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

I can enjoy silly things in movies just fine, I just can't stand when they try to one-up something that's already been done well, and have it turn out bad.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

It was quite simply the only truly great part of the film.

He needs a spin-off.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

The expressions of he kids he was saving were embarrassing

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

How would they make a Quciksilver spinoff? He is best used as a side character in films since he controls time.

That was sarcasm

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

I agree Painbow.

I thought the movie was kind of boring, then that scene with Quicksilver saving everyone came. Thought it was entertaining and funny with how he would save the fish and mess with peoples hair and stuff.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

The problem with the entire sequence was simply this"hey we had a very popular scene of Quicksilver in the last film, we must have another one, only it must be bigger and better!" Well, bigger isn't always better. It was there for no other reason than because it was so popular last time.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

Another problem is that it happened right after Havok was killed. Singer hates the Summers family. He just swept that death under the rug and moved on.

I was just thinking this the other day. I don't get why he hates the Summers' so much. Criminally disrespects the character of Scott then had Alex essentially blow himself up, then just kinda went, "yeah, that happened, whatever".

Logan, buddy. It's me, Deadpool! I shot youuuuuu.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

I'm really surprised he didn't kill off Havok with the others between First Class and DoFP. But I did call it that he'd kill Havok off in Apocalypse because he wouldn't dare keep both Summers brothers around to give Cyclops some story. Hell, I bet his "plan" for Cyclops in X3 was noise for the fans after the backlash of the actual X3.

This. I didn't dislike the scene in itself, but it came across as a poor imitation/attempt to better what was done so well in DoFP.

The key is being fresh and original. When they opt instead to regurgitate what they did last time, it hurts the scene.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

Just finished watching that scene and I absolutely loved it.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

I think the scene accomplished what it set out to do, and thats give the audience another badass quicksilver moment. Of all the things that pissed me off about the movie, this one actually didn't.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

LMAO..What of civil kids with jokes and dance offs

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

There was no dance off and Civil War was way more mature than apocalypse.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

First of all, these are all cartoon characters come to life on screen.

Second, they weren't trying to outdo the kitchen scene in DOFP. They just gave Quicksilver a greater challenge.

Third, your idea of not showing Quicksilver at work sounds just plain stupid after the world was almost destroyed by nukes.

Finally, he wasn't a weirdo. He was the closest relatable character for the audience living at home in his mom's basement, thinking he's a loser.

Get off your soapbox while I play you a tune on the tiniest violin.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

A greater challenge? He had even less of a challenge this time around because he was able to dance and fix peoples hair and save gold fish and pizza.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

I thought that scene was pretty cool.

If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now.-Loki (Marvel's Avengers)

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

It was a cool scene visually but it greatly exaggerated his powers/speed. If he is that fast, then there is no way Stryker would have been able to use any weapon on him. Nothing would be able to touch let alone hurt him. He's not that fast, cool scene but unrealistic even for an x-men movie.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

I totally agree. I was very disappointed. It was a terrible sequence. Numerous kids about to die and he's fooling around?

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

So you want your hero to have no personality or character? You just want him to do? You sound like most boring movie-goer.

Get off your soapbox while I play you a tune on the tiniest violin.

Re: Quicksilver's sequence was awful

I thought it was the best part of the movie, but I have two problems with it.

Emotionally, it makes nothing of the death of Alex Summers.

The way all those mutants get taken down immediately after should be more impressive than it was. You shouldn't be left feeling that as fast as Quicksilver was, perhaps that attack shouldn't have worked.

At least it wasent a modern song.
