Resident Evil: The Final Chapter : Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
Nah. It's because of the slow motion complaints from the past two films so he wanted to change his direction to be raw, dirty and real. He kinda said "ha ha" in our faces. But too bad, cause the film bombed. He'll regret it eventually and maybe re-do the whole film and give us a proper edit (not that it bothers me personally.)

Please notify me when Anderson's cock is out of your mouth..

Lmao
Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
I don't get why it's getting hate. Greengrass does it in the Bourne films and it's revelatory.
Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
But Greengrass is good at it, and he knows how to shoot a movie so that you can still follow what's going on when things start getting particularly crazy. There's a lot more wrong with Anderson's filmmaking than just the editing, so when you combine bad elements with other bad elements, it just makes a bigger mess.

Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
I disagree. Lol. In Supremacy in particular I had no idea what was going on in the fights. I struggled with this resi film also.
Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
But still no one complaints about the bourne films editing, only the final chapter, strange isn't IT?
Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
Did you even read these? The guy a couple of comments up literally just said about the same thing.

Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
He worked with editor Doobie White in a commercial(s?) in 2011 and liked his work. That's all there is to it.
Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
There's only one reason for fast editing a film, and that's that the shots are crap and you don't want to leave a single frame on screen longer than you have to. I think they used the editing to hide this film's lower budget. That said, I actually like this movie fine, I think the editing suits the genre.
Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
I highly doubt that.

Re: Fast editing due to video game nerds out there
I think it was simply a style choice to make the action look fast paced, frantic and instill a sense of urgency, but it's a massive misfire.
Fast cuts can work well - look at Mad Max - but this film tried to ramp it up and ended up being pretty much incomprehensible.
Nothing more, nothing less. Talks of lower budgets and bad choreography are nonsense, really. None of the other films suffer this issue at all and most of them apart from Afterlife and Retribution are made on similar budgets.

I think Paul realized how fast-paced our minds and visuals move today and i think he just tried to apply that to his film so it would satisfy those bored gaming minds at the theater. I can CLEARLY see why he chose this editing style and for this day and age it really does fit.
