Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children : twins could of…

twins could of…

singlehandidly won this

Re: twins could of…

I thought the same thing once I saw what they could do. I think a lot of the kids didn't use their abilities well. They need to read more comics lol. Couldn't Emma suck the air out of people's lungs?

Re: twins could of…

I spent like half the climax internally screaming "USE THE GIRL WITH THE FIRE POWERS, YOU IDIOTS! THE GIRL WITH THE FIRE POWERS!". It was borderline infuriating.

*could HAVE.

*could HAVE.

Thank you

Re: twins could of…

ever had any experience with five year olds?
Plus the twins never got close enough for their ability to take effect, and both are needed not just one.

Re: twins could of…

#1 its made clear they are over 60 years old the time loop may keep them physically at the age of five, but mentally they have lived 60 years, even if it was sheltered and secluded they are far more mature than 5 years old.

#2 i have to rewatch it, but it seemed like they were on a high up balcony, and at least 20+ feet from the target they used it on and the hollows were hardly using projectile weapons. infact they never did

#3 they managed to use it perfectly and effectively when narratively convenient obviously it would of been boring and a massive deus ex machina if they simply walked around and destroyed the enemy single handidly

but that is why over powered (OP) machinas like them are so infuriating and silly theres no reason for them not to of used their powers and all the reason for them to of

if your are arguement is serioulsy "ever had experience with 5 year olds.. its impossible to get them to look in one direction together and take off their masks"

well either you are smoking crack, because they did it in the film in a well coordinated attack at the perfect time. and yes i have 5 younger siblings ranging from 15 to 5. sooo ya i do.

Re: twins could of…

In regards to the second point, I'm pretty sure the target was right in front of them, having jumped from a high point and grabbed onto the balcony. I could be remembering wrong, though.

just checked the scene and you are absolutely right, she was directly infront of them about 5ft.

either way my points #1 and #3 stand..

and the fact the twins and others powers are vague/undefined just proves this was poor filmaking.

its basically a superhero/fantasy movie and yet leaves multiple characters powers unclear.

either way it seems unlikely the twins power had a 5ft range it seems to be an obvious medusa based power that extended beyond 5 feet. again it was so OP (overpowered). but the book probably explained it better..

also miss peregrins powers are beyond stupid i can "create time loops. and also turn into a bird"

its like saying "i can launch nuclear bombs out of my chest, and also create sandwiches at will" or "i can shoot lasers out of my eyes, and also turn people into gerbils". again maybe the original author gave a better expplanation, but in film the powers are so disconnected, unrelated and unattached it made no sense

i know its a fantasy, but i think it was tom clancy who said "the difference between reality and fiction is fiction has to make sense". meaning they have to offer a logical and nonsensical reason to why things are, not matter how outlandish the abilities and world the author creates..

Re: twins could of…

Its made clear they are over 60 years old..

Their hearts might have been beating for 60 years but they are NOT 60 year old's.. not mentally, physically, intellectually.. they haven't aged.

By your logic a one year old living in the loop who wont age will be able to talk and walk and to crossword puzzles if they don't age they don't develop. THEY'RE STUCK, Frozen in time in a time loop that just goes round in circles.

Re: twins could of…

They should be pretty mature considering their time in the loop but I have to agree if they wouldn't have the brain development necessary to be equivalent to 60 year old adult. The older children wouldn't be completely developed either since the prefrontal cortex isn't fully developed until early 20s. That has executive functioning which would be things like inhibitory control and reasoning. Not to say that there aren't mature teens out there but it just means they would be even better with impulse control, abstract thinking, and solving problems at a later age.

Regardless, many of them had pretty bad ass powers. It seems like they aren't used well. And when they are living in a time when people are trying to kill them it would make sense that they practice using them as weapons ahead of time. The fire girl totally could have done more just like someone who controls air. They were defeinitely old enough. And controlling time is a big deal too. I never got to understand that power completely but it seems useful.

Did you also find it strange that Samuel L Jacksons character missed a lot of opportunities to kill people. He'd just walk right by kids that he knew later one would come back to bother him. Like when Emma ran out of air. Just ignored her and went right to the door. There were some other times too.

Re: twins could of…

Perhaps their ability is limited, like flexing a muscle.
They might need time in between to recover.

Re: twins could of…

Also they've been in the loop of the same day for all this time and Miss Paragrine has only been sheltering them as only she knew how. They didn't think to take time (haha) to alter their routine.

Re: twins could of…

Final note:
Jake was the only one who could see the hollows.
He would have had to tell or point the twins in the general direction.
