Ghostbusters : I hate to admit it, but IMDb is kind of doing the right thing.

IMDb boards need to be moderated and without them, the trolls are everywhere and with multiple accounts pretending to be various users to agree (or disagree, to make it believable) with him/herself (looking at you, Hershey/Hestia/Beta) so yeah, as much as it sucks I just hope they don't actually take down the boards.

Keep the boards readable at the very least, IMDb.

There are ways of reducing the trolling without disabling the boards.

They could have simply hired volunteer moderators or, better yet, let some major company takeover the operation and have 24/7 supervision. This automated system that IMDb has in place was a joke from the start.

That is a good thing. We have enough issues with trolls we currently have that are taking advantage of the site's message board shutdown. Kinda wished they kept it quiet until after they shut this place down. That announcement was like a dinner bell ringing for trolls.

When I first saw IMDb's statement saying they were shutting down the forums THIS board was the first one I thought about - and while it kind of is bittersweet (I've been reading and writing on these boards for well over a decade now), I really can't help feeling that it's for the best. Hate and vile crap is basically the main feature of any given movie's or actor's board nowadays, and it is ever so tiresome.
I'll miss them, but only briefly.

I'm not going to miss it. As long as it puts Final, Natalia and Moo/AyeLewis out of a board I'll be thrilled to bits.
