Mirrors : Jaw scene

Jaw scene

I think the Jaw ripping scene was pretty wicked. What are some of the most brutal death scenes you've seen in films?

They look like a couple of dorks

Re: Jaw scene

the movie is = 'Irreversible'

(in one scene a man gets his head smashed in with a fire extinguisher)

Re: Jaw scene

that jaw scene made me feel sick, my head hurt and was it was actually painful to watch and i watch a lot of horror, so yeah it was very well done, ouch

Re: Jaw scene

One man's head getting crushed in High Tension and most of the deaths in Inside were brutal for me. Also the screwdriver in the throat in the new Friday the 13th.

To the very toes he is terrified, because the ground gives way under him, And the dream begins…

Re: Jaw scene

That WAS bad…it reminded me of the scene from poltergeist when one of the researchers looked in a bathroom mirror and his reflection ripped his face off. It was just a nightmare [presumably caused by the ghosts] freddy krueger style before there even was a freddy. Poltergeist 3 was all about ghosts and mirrors just like this movie was. 'they'[2002] also had a similar plot.

Re: Jaw scene

irreversible has my vote for most painful scene (or scenes)

Re: Jaw scene

I agree, but I am about to watch Inside, so it may change.

Re: Jaw scene

Indeed, it was jaw-dropping.

Re: Jaw scene

The Jaw ripping scene gets my vote. I really felt it for the character because she was really like-able and didn't deserve it at all. Also could not have seen it coming or have any chance to save herself. It felt like it was actually happening. I expected the story to go down hill from there, but thankfully it didn't.

Re: Jaw scene

Yeah that scene was pretty cringe worthy. Usually when there's an extremely violent scene and it is riddled with CGI it just looks corny, but they pulled that one off pretty well. Other notable scenes are the curb stomp in American History X, the blood bath in Hostel : Part II…

Re: Jaw scene

I remember the city invasion scene in Land of the Dead to have some pretty disturbing and painful looking deaths, at least in concept, presentation (as in quality of visual effects), I don't quite remember, maybe it lost points in actual presentation though.

Re: Jaw scene

I agree with someone above who said that this scene was pretty brutal because the character was likable, had no way to save herself, and you could almost feel it happening… I watched the scene 5 years ago when the film came out…haven't been able to sit through it since…it is that brutal to me…As far as other brutal scenes, I think the only other brutal death scene that comes to mind when I think about it would be the already mentioned curb stomp scene from American History X…it was brutal it was mindless it was pointless and it made me cry…

Re: Jaw scene

Just watched this movie tonight. It's a tough scene to get through…but then again…I saw the "broken wood through eye ball scene" in Zombie when I was 6 years old. I'm pretty much scarred regardless.

Re: Jaw scene

Does anyone else think that would hurt?

Re: Jaw scene

Re: Jaw scene

It made you cry? Wimp.

Re: Jaw scene

The jaw scene was simply awesome. Whoever did the effects deserves a round of applause.

Re: Jaw scene

I'm a huge horror nut, but I remember they kept SHOWING the jaw scene in all the internet banner ads for this film before it came out and it bothered me so much to see that woman flailing in the bloody tub that I still, to this day, never watched it.

I love horror, but some scenes are just too much for me. I still cringe when I think of that scene in Land of the Dead where they show the silhouette of the arm being torn in half from between the fingers down the forearm. Or that poor girl with giant hook up that hooha in The Mutilator?! That freaked me out.

Then again, I successfully navigated my young adult life without ever ending up at a gathering where something like Faces of Death was playing. I can't stand that real *beep* My buddy once did the whole "you gotta see this" without tellin me he was popping in a tape (VHS!) of some politician blowing off his head during a press conference. That pissed me off.

Re: Jaw scene

The jaw ripping scene was really goddamn ****ing brutal.
