Star Trek : An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

would have been interesting. It's a shame it didn't take off. I think it would be interesting even now. Any thoughts? KAS

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

It might have made it for a season. It might have seemed fresher during the mid 1960's when spy shows were at the highest demand by viewers. "Assignment Earth" set the bar pretty high in terms of stakes for the protagonists so how do you maintain the hype in terms of the characters' objectives week after week? You saved the Earth from nuclear holocaust in the pilot so how do you top that week after week?

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

Might not be that difficult in a way, if you don't get regular humans involved too much. The Men In Black seemed to manage, even in the cartoon series.

"There's always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable little planet, and the only way these people can get on with their happy lives is that they DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!"

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

It would have had a good start. Then, the producers would have brought in kids or little fuzzy creatures.

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

God I would hope not. But according to the novel Assignment: Eternity (which is non-canon) Gary Seven apparently could travel through time.

Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

That is why Gary Seven would have been good in "Star Trek: Generations". He would have added to the plotline there.

Re: An "Assignment: Earth" spinoff…

Did you know there was an episode of 'The Six MILLION Dollar Man' that was ALSO go to SPIN OFF into its OWN series?

"THAT'S SOME BAD SHIT, HARRY!".

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

I think of would have been fun.

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

An A:E weekly show had great possibilities.

The only aspect of this pilot that I found silly was the cat/alien shape-shifter.

It came off more like an episode of Bewitched.

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff

AND we already had a Mission Impossible, so.....................👾

Luke Skywalker, your Mom was hawt! Darth Vader

Re: An 'Assignment Earth' spinoff
