Re: if you're going to make a show that's 90% battles
You mean 9% battles. It's mostly drama.
Re: if you're going to make a show that's 90% battles
Agree. Taggart is an unconvincing SEAL. Convincing as a homeless meth addict , yes.
Show could be promising with more technical advisers than drama coaches.

Boy was that a premature statement.

Are you talking about the ship scene?
If you are, that's because Joe's being too emotional about Rip. Alex called him out on it, there and later at the diner. Because it was supposed to be a quick snatch and grab (person and Intel). I think in any other situation where it wasn't about a teammate, that wouldn't have happened.
But we see throughout much of what we saw through the flashbacks that Joe always backed Rip, even when he knew he was going off the rails. Alex seemed to be the only one who saw a problem and called Rip on it.
So, is your problem that Joe made a mistake?
I agree. He shouldn't have. Mistakes take a chance of getting people killed. (I do think that's where Buddha got hurt.) But I also think that these people are human, and prone to occasional mistakes in judgement. I think I'd rather see that than robot perfect soldiers who never make mistakes. That would be unrealistic.

Re: if you're going to make a show that's 90% battles
I think a heist type plot would work much better with stories about special forces in general. With emphasis on tension rather than action. And let the action be a release at selected spots. It would be cheaper to produce and fit much better with the meticulousness of SF work.
Re: if you're going to make a show that's 90% battles
This show's a soap opera it's nothing but garbage. Each episode each character get's to have drama. This is no different than a daytime soap women watch.
