A Dog's Purpose : IMDB will be shutting down the message boards on the 20th

Thanks to idiots, like the ones in this forum, who feel the need to turn a movie thread into witch hunt. I can't say I won't miss these little talks. I'm sure other sites will follow suit.

I agree, there have been terrible abuses of the message boards. I've seen it regarding A Dog's Purpose in recent weeks, and I saw a lot of it for weeks and weeks re: the 2016 Ghostbusters. IMDB clearly either can't or won't clamp down on abusive jerks.

This movie has a 3.8 rating?

This movie? No. This has been in motion for a while now. It's message boards like this one though, that are a prime example why IMDB is doing it. The majority of the threads on this site are full of negative, hate-filled comments. No one seems to want to talk about movies, ,actors, actresses, directors, or writers. They want to bash them. Now, they can take that sh!t to YouTube. YouTube will probably follow suit, eventually. I honestly believe we are living in the last days of free speech on the internet. There will always be plenty of idiots around to ruin a good thing.

Yeah, thank you very much all for this brilliant ending of these boards.

Really sad once again the majority pay the price because of a few idiots.

Just like high car insurence because some idiots think it's a good idea to road race.

Pointedly, this is indeed why IMDb are curtailing free speech, with respect to films: they do not want the industry's dirty, little secrets (like, this film's alleged controversial dealings with animals) being aired and thereby risking the revenue stream that so many rely on to enable their worship at the trough of their one, true god, Mammon.

If anybody is interested in another movie database with dedicated boards for every individual title and person, there is a website called TMDB (https://www.themoviedb.org/talk) that recently added message boards for every specific movie and person (example: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/149871-kaguyahime-no-monogatari/discuss You have to click on the little word bubble icon on the top left of the movie's page). A bunch of people from IMDb have already gathered at their general boards and and are discussing ways to increase activity and serve as an alternative to IMDb.

I encourage everyone to take a look at this site. I think it looks very promising. It's the only other site I know of with message boards for every movie, actor, director, etc.

I also encourage everyone to spread the word about this site, as it seems most people don't know about it.
