Rings : What neurosurgeons talk about during surgery

What neurosurgeons talk about during surgery

Last night, while I was operating on a patient, the nurses and residents were talking about this movie. I mentioned how I scared my mother, back during the original movie (English version), by hiding my mobile and calling the house phone that was in the den. I made sure to plan this in advance to scare her and some friends that had come to watch a bootleg DVD of the movie. I made sure to pre-dial the house number so that all I had to do was press the SEND button (this was during the flip-phone analog days). I kept the phone under my legs and pressed SEND just after they showed the video that the characters see in the movie, just before the phone rang onscreen. I had watched Ringo (the original Japanese movie) and The Ring with another friend a few days earlier, so I had it planned from then. Everyone, even the friend that I had watched the two movies with earlier, Who knew what I was going to do, screamed. We all laughed when I showed them my Motorola Startac. When we see any ads or sequels to The Ring, everyone always starts laughing, and tells other people what I did. My nurses, residents, interns and even the usually quiet anesthesiologists all started Making a commotion. They either started yelling that they would have killed me, or laughed, saying that it was funny. A few said that they plan on watching this when it comes out on DVD or OnDemand, and plan on doing the same thing.

Re: What neurosurgeons talk about during surgery

It depends on the amount and type of surgeries that I do. I have privileges at six different hospitals (3 in NYC, 2 upstate NY and 1 in London), but work through private practice that I share with colleagues. I'm not on a payroll from any hospital, instead I am free to move around to my various properties. I also volunteer my services at a free clinic on Tuesdays (my way of giving back). Solely as a neurosurgeon, I make between high 6 figures and low 7 figures. I have income from other places, so I actually have only been volunteering during the past 2.5 years (when my mother died I took a leave of absence, then my 11 1/2 year old daughter died last year from an acute pneumothorax, so I just started operating again).
