I'm really sad I love to come here after watching movies to discuss them , laugh and learn, yes they be some trolls but that will always be anywhere, I been coming here for over 5 years ,it's my comfort zone. And it's going away

Yes and no. I think it's a bold move to show people that bullying and talking *beep* on the internet has consequences, which is something Twitter has allowed for far too long and has only recently begun to crack down upon (barely).


The reality of the situation is, they should simply have MODS who monitor threads and remove the bad posts.


I was an avid user on the boards a few years ago, and I legit just returned a week ago, only to now find they are going away.

It's sad because I don't know where else to go to talk about films that will have a large amount of people.

Isn't there a report button? Not sure how it works but please explain how they're not doing enough action.

There was also a report button on Twitter that legit did nothing. People give death threats and say the most awful, horrific things on there and nothing is ever done about it.

Twitter will send your personal information to people stalking you. It happened to me I had to change my name and phone number. Twitter knows this is a problem and has done this repeatedly to people. Twitter of all places can't handle their *beep*

Hello, can someone explain to me what IMDB is doing, please. If they are really going to disable the message boards for each individual movie, that makes not one wit of sense. I thought they were talking about the community boards, though I kinda liked them too, I could learn to live without them. To disable the individual movie message boards would be a travesty. What would be the incentive to sign in except maybe to write a review if we are still allowed to do that. People have invested lots of time to post fascinating thoughtful ideas, opinions, theories, plot analysis, actor/actress appreciation or lack thereof(LOL). The message boards are the heart of IMDB to me. Do not really get the point of its existence without them.

I agree. I like to discuss before and after. Also, I don't read comics, but I watch Lucifer, iZombie and Supergirl, and there are questions that I can ask about things that are going on, that only (occasionally) make sense if you read the comics. I like to come on the boards and look up old TV shows or movies and see if anyone has anything new to talk about. Also, if you go to individual actors, you will find people saying things about them that are interesting, or just heartwarming. Removing the boards because of a relatively small group of people sucks for the rest of us. The boards are discussions, and not everyone shares the same opinion. I don't like to talk to people who have the same thing to say as me all the time, I like to hear different points of view; that's one reason I like the boards, and don't care about people having negative reactions to things.

Really?! There have always been trolls who bashed everything and mocked everybody, but I always fastforwarded those posts, reading what interested me. I always came here whenever I wanted to know how other people feel about a specific film or after watching a TV show or before a movie came out, to read predictions and assumptions and hopes.
It's always been a fun thing to do and now it's soon to be gone. An unfortunate and not too wise decision.

Quit spreading false information. They're not closing because of trolls or people that upset you because they don't agree with your opinion they're closing because the message boards generate no source of revenue for IMDB or Amazon.
