BritComs : Friday Night Dinner
Re: Friday Night Dinner
I only found this show a few weeks ago and am catching up on past episodes. Highly recommend to all of my friends.
Re: Friday Night Dinner
I didn't realise there were 2 previous series, so had a FND marathon earlier this week.
Not a classic episode last night, but still good.

Hi Harbs,
I saw some episodes of the earlier series on TV here at one point. Very good!

Re: Friday Night Dinner
Excellent!
The series finale on Friday. Mr Morris makes a welcome return to (attempt to) marry Grandma.
You might well think that. I couldn't possibly comment

Re: Friday Night Dinner
I tried to like it and it has its moments, but in the end it's too rude and crazy to be realistic for me.
We can't be lost; we don't know where we're going.
All that matters is that we're going.

Re: Friday Night Dinner
That was my problem too. I don't mind rudeness but how many families do you actually know who behave like that, especially the way the sons talk to their parents?
Re: Friday Night Dinner
Maybe that's the way some people would want us to behave... Let's not underestimate the propaganda power of television...

Re: Friday Night Dinner
Without trying to go all Mary Whitehouse I think you could be right. I have nothing against swearing or violence in certain dramatic contexts, but in a family sitcom it all seems a bit PC, like "Look at these Jewish parents who aren't religious and let their kids insult them, how modern and enlightened they are!"
Sorry for ranting about just a comedy!

Re: Friday Night Dinner
I actually fell in love with UK shows with this one ( and Inside nº9 ) Loved it! trying to keep up to date with UK shows, but its not easy...
Re: Friday Night Dinner
I recently saw the first 2 episodes of series-1 but didn't really find it funny enough. Does it get better?

Re: Friday Night Dinner
I would say yes, Joel, but I liked the first series. Perhaps it's not your cup of tea?
You might very well think that. But I couldn't possibly comment
