Youth : Is Mick going to die, anyway?

Is Mick going to die, anyway?

Just saw this for the third time and only picked up on it tonight.

After the Queen's emissary visits Fred for the second time, upsetting him, there follows immediately a shot where Fred is seen on his balcony, looking on as Mick and the long-haired doctor walk together. Since this is surrounded by much talk about both men's urination and potential prostate issues, is this scene, which is easily missed after the emotional tumult of Fred's getting upset with the emissary, a clue that Mick may have prostate cancer? Meaning, that is, that he doesn't give himself much time to live and that his suicide isn't necessarily solely driven by Brenda's rejection, but also the fact that his own death is at hand and that he doesn't think he has enough time to start another film.

Re: Is Mick going to die, anyway?

I don't know to be honest but I suspect the acceptance amd knowledge that he's never going to make another film would be reason enough to ...

Re: Is Mick going to die, anyway?

I think he already died.

That's why the doctor was talking about him to Fred, the reason why Jane Fonda was going berserk and screaming that she was "Sorry, Mick!" on the plane. That's why Fred was crying in his last scene on the tree stump and why Mick wasn't at Fred's concert.

SPOILERS

You are reading too much into it. Mick and the doctor were just talking. That set up the scene where Fred asks the doctor about their conversation (the "learned to ride a bike" talk)...

I believe Mick jumped off the balcony because he realized his best work was behind him, and much like Fred is only about music, Mick was only alive to make films.
