Uncle Nick : SHOCKED at how good this was. Misleading name and cover.

SHOCKED at how good this was. Misleading name and cover.

The title "Uncle Nick" was a terrible choice, if you want anybody to watch the movie. That title combined with the generic "goofy comedy" cover image makes you believe it's going to be just exactly that - Yet another generic Christmas comedy movie.

A much better title choice would've been "The Beat Of The Drum". You'll get why if you've seen it.

Anyway, this is not your standard low budget comedy. It's more of a drama with comedy elements. And it's great. I recommend it to anybody who's tired of taking chances on *beep* netflix-level movies.

I agree. I've been looking for more adult theme Christmas films, not the traditional Hallmark family lovely dovey stuff. This exceeded my expectations.

Agreed. It was kindof gritty, in-your-face and loud (if exaggerated) - modelled on raw emotion that's relateable. A surprisingly touching 'comedy' too, and one that does better character development than Interstellar, Ben Hur and the latest Marvel/DC crap combined.

Definitely recommended unless you want to stick to PG.

Yeah, I was trepidatious at first because it immediately strikes you with a very low-budget, shot-on-video look, but this was a great film. Superb writing, really well-drawn characters. And the parallel and eventual connection with the infamous Indians ten-cent-beer-night fiasco was brilliantly done.
