Western : Name of western

Name of western

Put me out of my misery. Black and white. the final scene is where the bad guys are smoked out of a cave and shot. I thought it was Wichester 73 but not.

Re: Name of western…

I've seen this too and mentioned it once here. But now I've forgotten. Too bad it was before May 27th. Anyway, it might've been an episode of 'Cheyenne' or one of the other b&w tv Westerns, bnsat.

I'll let you know when I come-up with a new signature, .

Re: Name of western…

Certainly not Cheyenne, it was a movie.

Re: Name of western…

Ask this on the I Need To Know board. Because I do too! You can also ask on both the Film General and Classics board.

Unfortunately so far Google hasn't been of any help.

Re: Name of western

That sounds like, "The Tin Star" with Henry Fonda and Anthony Perkins.

Weed it and reap

Re: Name of western

I'll second "The Tin Star"

"He was a poet, a scholar and a mighty warrior."

Re: Name of western

Ah! I had an inkling it was The Tin Star but then remembered the finale was a show down in the main street which put me off.

Re: Name of western

The Tin Star is the second most recent western I watched and this came straight to mind! Very enjoyable film, albeit not as great as other Mann or Fonda westerns, particularly for quite klunky dialogue and a strangely wooden John Wayne-esque reading of lines by Fonda which I thought was strange as he didn't usually talk like that in films.

The smoking them out of the cave was not the final scene but it was close, and I think your memory is correct as after the fellas were smoked out of the cave they were in jail, with an angry mob wanting to drag them out of jail and lynch them, and this is where the film ended with a showdown in the main street.

So I think you got it right.
