Hot Tub Time Machine 2 : Drug Trip
Re: Drug Trip
Nothing like in the movie where you have to keep it on for 48 hours exists. At least not to my knowledge. The first time I did acid, it wasnt too crazy. The craziest thing I saw was these vines on a wall started to grow like I was watching it's whole life span pass in seconds. The 2nd time I did it, however, was more than that. I didn't necessarily see things that weren't there, but objects around me started to shrink or grow, and the floor looked lopsided. I'm not trying to rattle off, just trying to explain a little. Hahaha
Re: Drug Trip
It would take a lot to explain the mental progression of a trip, but if you want to feel what the visuals are like, to a certain degree, check out that Internet thing that's been going around where you look at a spiral spinning for 30 seconds and then the Van Gogh painting starts to pulse. It's a lot like that with varying intensity.
That being said, not all hallucinogens are man equal. Acid will provide varying effects based on dose strength, which is about a 10th of what it was in the 60s. Shrooms are more unpredictable because they're organic, and things like mescaline can provide the true hallucinations where you're laying on the floor sweating and writhing, watching a private play performed behind your eyes.

Re: Drug Trip
This scene from the movie blueberry is the most accurate representation of a full hallucinogenic experience I have ever encountered in film.

Drug Trip
The tripping scene in 21 Jump Street was actually pretty good, it seemed like it had a good balance of weird trippiness without going overboard (just compare the hallucinations in 21JS with 22JS).
Now, I've never actually done any drugs before (unless you count alcohol), fictional future drugs or otherwise do drug trips like the ones shown in these films actually hold any similarity to ones experienced in reality? When shown in the movies, they just feel overly cartoonish or like the movie is trying too hard to show us "WHOA! This is CRAZY, guys! You can totally tell the character is on DRUGS!". Or am I wrong?
I know on some level they're never really rational, you're feeding your body mind altering substances and it's *beep* with your brain, but well, I already explained above. Also, if these do come off as "trying too hard", what are some films where you'd say they really hit the nail on the head in terms of a character having hallucinations and the like?
Also, no offense, but don't rattle off to me some epic drug binges. They're about as awesome as "this one time I got sooo drunk-"
