Orphan : I have Esther's illness

I have Esther's illness

I don't mean a psychopath part, obviously. I mean the hypopituitarism. Although I take shots in my thighs for it every night which helps me grow. It's a rare disease but I'm glad a movie is finally going into it.

Re: I have Esther's illness

How does it affect you day to day?

Re: I have Esther's illness

It doesn't have too much of an effect on my daily life. Other than the injections in my thighs, I also have to take Cortizone (corteff) pills three times a day. If I don't take the pills, I could potentially die.

Although, I will say that the movie did tone it down a little. If Esther never took the injections, she would actually never grow beyond the size of an infant.

Re: I have Esther's illness

Well, I think there are different kinds of the disease.

Re: I have Esther's illness

Get up and quit feeling sorry for yourself. Mind over matter!!

Re: I have Esther's illness

Who said she was feeling sorry for herself? Stop being a self-righteous tool.

Re: I have Esther's illness

She seems to be doing pretty well.

She didn't sound as if she was feeling sorry for herself to me. Just remarking that it was nice to see a movie highlighting her condition.

Boy was that a bizarre change in tune for these posts.

Re: I have Esther's illness

I'm actually a guy.

Re: I have Esther's illness

mind over matter?

'make yourself grow!' 'make yourself grow!' 'make yourself grow!!!!'

lol, you tool.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

Re: I have Esther's illness

She isn't feeling sorry for herself you ignorant ninny! She simply stated the facts of living with that disability. People like you need to have a karmic accident to turn your life upside down so your egotistical intolerance can be taken down a few pegs.

Re: I have Esther's illness

When talking and trying to figure out the movie with my family, before it was given away on screen, I had guessed dwarfism. I actually wasn't aware that there is a form of the condition that would make a thirty-three year old woman look 9 yr old! Sometimes movies often exaggerate a condition. I wonder how rare it is?

Re: I have Esther's illness

Well, it was mainly makeup and childish clothes that really made her look young.

Re: I have Esther's illness

I think it is pretty rare I would think.. I saw something on TV once about a baby that's was like 30 something she still was the size of a baby and never learnedly to talk I don't think. You could probably find it if you look it up.

Re: I have Esther's illness

I've heard about her. The reason why I was able to get treatment was because I was a test subject, and it was safer for me because I was a newborn, whereas she was at least 10

Re: I have Esther's illness

There's also a YA author with the condition.

Re: I have Esther's illness

WOW! Who is it?

Re: I have Esther's illness

Her name is Ann Angel. Couldn't tell to look at her, but apparently she has pituitary dwarfism. She's pretty and looks a full adult, but it must have been tough to grow up with. Great books too!

Re: I have Esther's illness

Ohh yeah, I know her! She's made great educational books and YA anthologies (which I began collecting like mad in the past couple of years). This is her Amazon page:

Best wishes to you. Your state of mind is inspiring :)

Re: I have Esther's illness

In the trivia her character is based off some lady with the same disorder who was cruel. Hope you are alright.

Re: I have Esther's illness

I'm great, thank you.
