The Intern : The House Masseuse?

The House Masseuse?

How convenient for the plot of the movie - Rene Russo's character of "The House Masseuse". I guess that was the best they could do to insert an older woman as Ben's possible romantic interest into the story. Since he was a senior intern working with an all young staff, so it wouldn't make sense to have her as part of the staff - and it would be too easy and convenient to make her just another senior intern.

A_l_a_c_h_u_a_1,
I know what you mean.
It would have been wayyyyy too easy to make the "older love interest" as one of the other older female interns.
Instead, here comes Rene Russo, the masseuse!

Plus, she came over to the department and gave only the older guy a back & body rub, while the younger guys on both sides just sat there and watched?
That was weird!

Re: The House Masseuse?

I watched this with a masseuse friend of mine and she was so pissed off about them sexualizing the massage. She gets propositioned all the time by creepy male clients, thinking they can buy a happy ending add on, and says this kind of thing is exactly there reason why.

Re: The House Masseuse?

Pumpy,
Your friend is right.
My friend is also a masseuse and she said the same thing (about people stereotyping them as sex massagers).

Re: The House Masseuse?

I don't know. I thought this showed how "hip" this company was. They have a house masseuse! So I didn't have any issues with that. I did think the first massage was a bit strange. But it did have a funny joke.

Re: The House Masseuse?

Yeah, I liked it, including the crazy joke. But I don't thnk she would be fulltime for just 200 employees. That would be like a 10-15 massage every week for each of them.

Re: The House Masseuse?

Who cares if it is convenient as long as it is plausible?

What's wrong with a house masseuse? They exist.

Re: The House Masseuse?

I think it was a plot device to ensure that the audience knew that Jules and Ben wouldn't be an 'item'.

To be honest, when I saw this advertised I though that would be the direction it went.
