The Time Traveler's Wife : Anyone else go cringe at the sight of Rachel McAdams' back?

I watched this movie on the weekend and I know I shouted "eww that's disgusting" when the camera panned on Rachel's back when she was getting out of bed.

Honestly why take a shot of her back with all her spinal disks sticking out like that under her skin. It was gross.

Yeah, I love Rachel to death, I really do, but I would be lying if I didn't admit to being a little um, what's the word? Maybe a little shocked by that shot. It was a bit unsightly, but I'm just being honest. I'm not going to call her anorexic or anything. Hopefully she was healthy during the shoot. Again, I do love her, though. Also, are we absolutely positive that it was her back? Do they cut away to another shot of her face, or is it a seamless and continuous shot? I can't remember.

Sorry but I have seen athletic women before who don't have disks of their spine visible.

Lucy Lawless and Renee O'conner in their Xena days were very atheltic and their backs never showed the disks sticking out.

Neither do most Olympians and sports stars have their spines showing.

Just an example. She isn't anorexic but she is on the far to skinny side.

Well, there was ONE thing wrong. That ghastly tattoo on her lower back. That is an extreme offense against nature and beauty.

Well, I just went back and looked at it again. It's apparent to me that none of you have any idea of human female physiology. It's also obvious that none of you keyboard jockeys have ever seen a real live hot girl naked. LOL If you'd ever had one in your bed, moving around like humans do, you'd have seen this before.

Rachel looks just fine in that shot. Yes, he spine protrudes when she's bent over. That's what spines do when they're not covered with 18 layers of fat. She wouldn't want to lose 20 pounds, true, but at the weight she is there, she looks fiiiiiiiine.

Look at her in other scenes for crying out loud. She's got bare shoulders, bare back she looks awesome. That is a good body. That's what a thin body looks like folks. Thin. Not skinny. Thin. As in non-cow.

You're an idiot. My wife is one of the hottest and fittest women on the planet, and her spine doesn't jump out of her back like that. Trust me, her body has been moved around in every direction possible in our bed, so I would have seen this if it was normal.

Bottomline: Rachel's body and spine are not normal. Deal with it.

Yes, I just watched this scene a few minutes before I read this thread. I was pretty shocked, it did look a little gross.

Visible vertebrae and ribs from behind - a bit too much. Made me worry about her.

Skinny women are hot. What was gross was that thing on the side of her face.

Have to agreed with OP. I think Rachel is lovely, and looked great in this movie sexy and very desirable. But yeah, those vertebrae protruding from her back were a bit of a shock. Never seen that before and believe me, I've made the female form my life's study :)

On a related topic, I find it amusing when euros slag American women. Now that their women have learned to shave, they're feeling all proud and sh!t.

Heh. My husband said, "Eeeuww!" when he saw that spine, too. He said it looked like an alien or something (and he wasn't too impressed with her ribs, either, which were also very visible in that scene).

Rachel McAdams' backside could win a beauty contest. Yes, her spine did look a bit like the uber-morlock in that one bedroom scene. But that was probably the light and the way her body was positioned.

Are we sure it was Rachel's back even? So many actresses who would prefer not to be naked in front of crew, etc have body doubles and we never hear about it.

Just so ya know it is not normal for the vertebrae to stick out so prominently. Think how many naked women we have seen from the back and they don't look like that.

Me and my brothers backs looks like that. Think it has to do with a naturally lean body type which we all have. Impossible for any of us to gain any kind of weight to. I'm happy with that deal.

To the OP, I thought that back shot was absolutely disgusting. I would have rather seen a woman who had some substance to her than a skeleton.

Agree but even worse was seeing tattoo on her lower left of her back..although it was only for a second on the screen..much worse than seeing her boney back..

Wow, I actually came on here because I thought she looked way normal for an actress in this. Her thighs were a little bigger than most and I saw a bit of a belly. Way more belly than most actresses these days. I admired her for looking average in this film and NOT anorexic. Everyone's bone structure is different and it could have been the way she was bent over a little making her spine stick out. I didn't even notice that.
