The Grand Tour : The celebrity bit

The celebrity bit

I'm glad they turned that boring segment into a funny exciting mockery.

Re: The celebrity bit

I hope that was just a first episode thing, and that either they have a proper celebrity bit in the future or don't have one at all. Although it was fun seeing Jeremy Renner splat, and less so seeing Armie Hammer writhing in agony (less well done than Renner's bit, I thought), I think having that kind of thing every week could become grating.

Good luck, Captain. I think you're about to go where everyone has gone before

Re: The celebrity bit

im hoping they can it, i always skipped over the celeb bit in top gear (except that one time when they had ross noble, he was great) - its my hope this was just to poke fun at the fact that bbc's lawyers wont let them do a celeb in a car bit.

Re: The celebrity bit

BBC lawyers couldn't stop them from having a celebrity drive a car on a track, they could only stop them from calling it a star in a reasonably price car but seeing that their test track is in the UK and they are apparently doing shows on random places around the world it would make the logistics of doing a bit like that more of a problem.

Re: The celebrity bit

I doubt they'll have a celebrity interview bit in future episodes.
For one thing they film the studio segments well in advance (some of them over 2 months ago, if I'm not mistaken), which means that they can't have a movie star promoting their new movie, since their press tour hasn't started yet.

Stars on the test track therefore also seem more than unlikely, since it - most of the times - isn't even on the same continent as the tent.

Lastly, in my opinion at least, it would seem very out of place for the new show to have a Jeremy only bit (i.e. one on one interview) in the new tent. The only thing more out of place would be if all three of them sat there interviewing a guest in the style of Loose Women / The View.

One thing I could imagine, is that every now and then a celebrity pops in and they have a lawn mower race around the studio or a random movie star has the odd cameo in one of the films.

Anyway, I certainly wont miss the celebrity bits - always skip them when watching old episodes.

Re: The celebrity bit

i found it grating when carol titsndimples voderman came 'on'..I'm also wondering if this was a one off skit does that also apply to the 'ebola drome track and nascar driver guy' ? (i like the track but the name must be offensive to the victims families of ebola).

Re: The celebrity bit

Who gives a frak who it offends? It's the name of a virus. That's the whole point of a show on Amazon. They can offend anyone they want.

Re: The celebrity bit

Clearly your offended i dared to say someone is offended.

Do you want some fries to go with that salt ?

Re: The celebrity bit

No, I'm offended by censorship.

Re: The celebrity bit

Traditionally you serve the fries before the salt.

Re: The celebrity bit

'facepalm'

Re: The celebrity bit

Offensive to families of Ebola victims?
Oh, I forgot, momentarily, that it was 2016, and absolutely any sort of media output is moderated with generation snowflake in mind. Less to do with offending actual victims, more to do with those that take offence on behalf of victims. They are many, and they make a loud noise, and they are, bit by bit, draining life of any colour.

Re: The celebrity bit

It's just an opinion, on what people might find offensive considering the whole slope fiasco..

Notice i did not say i was offended by it.

Do you want some vinegar to go with your salt ?

Re: The celebrity bit

I did notice that you did not say that you were offended, merely that you were concerned that somebody might be. Hence my reply. Apologies if my reply offended you. Its a bloody minefield these days.
S**t! I said minefield. Now I've gone and offended someone who once saw some news about a war somewhere.
Literally cannot say anything these days. I'm off to hide in a bunker before some fat feminist SJW hunts me down for triggering her out of her safe space.

Re: The celebrity bit

I can only imagine what the families or loved ones of people who have inexplicably died in a tent must be feeling.

Re: The celebrity bit

The cast list here details both Renner and Hammer as being in 2 episodes, so I can only assume that they will feature further down the series

Re: The celebrity bit

I can see all 3 appearing/resurrected in the next episode.

Re: The celebrity bit

Yes, they nearly ruined a perfectly good car show with celebrity guests. ;)

By the same token though they need to check their OHS policy because guests shouldn't die like that. Totally avoidable accidents. ;)
