Moonlight : Reaction from Globe Audience

Look at the eruption and standing ovation from the crowd of actors and actresses in the audience. These are people who KNOW their craft well and gave Moonlight it's due. Even LLL did not receive a standing ovation. Also Moonlight has a best cast SAG nom so hopefully this bodes well for the Oscars.

It's called Liberal pandering. Going against the grain in Hollywood is never a good thing if you're in that community. There's a reason Hollywood has a permanent raised eyebrow toward it's direction. It's not for everyone. These people live in a bubble. Add their own Left politics to it and that is not a good combination.

I'm not sure why you can call the poster "hateful" for simply stating the truth; Hollywood DOES live creates it's own bubble, and has it's own political agenda, and if you go against the grain, it can actually damage the career of an actor or film maker. i don't see any "hate" in that statement. would he be a "nicer" person if he ignored indisputable facts?

My advice to you is to get a new schtick capiche? "Liberal pandering " whatever that is is tired, worn out and incredibly banal much like your presumed taste in cinema. Try not importing your myopic ideological constraints onto what is considered excellent cinema by the overwhelming majority of critics AND audiences across the US.

it is sad, but true. well, at least they feel good about themselvespeople who emphasize on how much they love black culture and black people are biggest racists. its like when someone tries to show how straight he is and how much he hates gays, there is pretty big chance that he is closet homosexual.

This movie is acclaimed because it's not a typical "Black" or a typical movie that's just trying to make money. It's a movie about "self-discovery", a pretty classic indie movie about characters and humanity. You don't have to or need to believe in it. If you choose to not like this movie because you don't believe in anything Black that's you - don't blame "liberalism" makes me not like this and that. There were enough movies at the Golden Globes you could have picked on and deemed as overrated *la la land*

Has nothing to do with liberal pandering. Great film that people need to see, Award or no Award, this is the better film of all those that are being nominated now.

Plenty of people have seen it already. It's grossed almost three times its budget in the US alone, while playing in less than 1000 theaters

Fair enough Mfoley but what I have a problem with is attributing the reaction from the GG audience to "liberal pandering." Did it ever occur to you that the actors in that audience gave Moonlight a standing ovation BASED ON THEIR APPRECIATION of the films uniformly incredible acting? They are in the same craft. That's the point of my OP. This film does not even discuss race AT ALL or any political issue which should be refreshing to many.
