Split : Is it just girls ?

Do you think the beast targets just girls ? I think because of the "incident" that happened to Barry at work with the two high schools girls that would explain why he would only go after girls? What do you think ?

Because women in general are more likely to be less tainted by the world, if you will. More pure.

No. His sacrifices were women who had led pure lives. He sacrificed those who had not been hurt by the world. He let casey live because she was a rape victim and thus tainted

you're right but you have pure/unpure mixed up

The beast talked about how the damaged people were the pure ones/more evolved, and the people who lived safe lives were the un-pure and therefore not worth living

He was targeting the un-pure "people with perfect lives"

This ^^^, but I can see how the OP is confused. We're used to thinking of abuse victims as tainted, dirty, ruined, but this movie posits the oppositethey're the purest ones because they've been closest to the fire. It's actually kind of a sweet message.
