Mommy : Near Incest (According to Several Sites)

Near Incest (According to Several Sites)

I really don't want to see this movie if that is the case. There's ENOUGH sickening mom/son porn pouring over when one is performing even the simplest of web-searches including the words "mom" and "son". It's utterly nauseating.

There's no incest whatsoever in this film. The son jokingly attempts to grab his mother's breast.

Later that day, after tea I died, suddenly.

There isn't any incest in the movie, so you don't have to worry about that. There are two weird scene where he kisses his mom, but i think Xavier Dolan did this to show the audience that the son really loves his mom and does have serious mental health issue. I might be wrong though.

This aside, i really think it's a movie worth seeing!

Re: Near Incest (According to Several Sites)

you're right. and you can tell he has mental issues from not just the incest.

The movie has been described as an oedipal comedy/drama, of course there's a hint at incest, but it really doesn't go there in a morbid way but more in the male development freudal study kind of way, Xavier dealt with very artistically and it works with the story.

Re: Near Incest (According to Several Sites)

The relationship between Die and Steve is incredibly intense and intimate - so intimate that there really are no boundaries between them. So while there are a few scenes that play up the suggestive nature of their intimacy, it is never meant to be taken as incestuous. I just saw it as a powerful and ferocious love, one that desires to possess but is not driven by sexual desire. When Steve kisses his mother, it's not because he desires her that way, it's simply because he loves her and needs to express it somehow; appropriate or not, he just wants his mother to know that he'll always be there for her. At least this is how I interpreted it. For me, those scenes of intimacy were beautiful and heartbreaking.
