Collateral Beauty : It should be illegal to falsely advertise a movie like the trailer did.

It should be illegal to falsely advertise a movie like the trailer did.

I almost cried during the trailer seeing it as a film about hope and the human experience. And this is what we got? So many people are going to be upset with this. I want the movie I saw in the trailer. I was ready to see something like that. What a horrible horrible thing to do to an audience.

Why?

Uh, because it's a blatant bait and switch. I didn't see a single thing that hinted at the real story of this film.

It was advertisement that took advantage of the feel good spirit that comes around the holidays and they blatantly falsely advertised to bait people in and get their money.

I'm pretty sure there is a good case here to be made this was illegal.

oh i am going to see it tonight, my only reason was Kate Winslet. though i already booked the tickets so i will watch it , but disappointed by reviews and as u say its not like trailer bc the trailer seems so good and heart touching :(

Re: It should be illegal to falsely advertise a movie like the trailer d

A movie isnt a tangible good when you are seeing it in the theater, so this wont fall under deceptive advertising laws.

Re: It should be illegal to falsely advertise a movie like the trailer d

I saw the trailer and knew the basic plot and called one of the twists 100%. it was exactly what i thought it would once i knew the basic plot. and if you didn't know the plot then the film, with the twist, is pretty much exactly what the trailer said it would be.

Re: It should be illegal to falsely advertise a movie like the trailer d

Trailers always make the movie look better than it is. Critical consensus, while not perfect, is more reliable.

Re: It should be illegal to falsely advertise a movie like the trailer d

Well it was what the trailer said. The movie just tried to convince you otherwise to make a twist that shouldn't have been.

Had you not seen the trailer beforehand, you would have had that experience.

I took the subway to Wayne Station and Batwalked up the road.

HUNH????

Re: It should be illegal to falsely advertise a movie like the trailer did.

Yeah I was disappointed that it was misrepresented. The trailer made it seem way more magical.
I still enjoyed the movie but not as much as I would have if the movie matched the trailer.
I was trying to picture his future with his friends. I would feel compelled to tell Howard the truth at some point. I would feel so guilty about what was done.
On the upside, I liked that the people, Howard's friends were helped too.
