Cabin Fever : All who hate on the remake have cognitive and psychological issues

The remake is at least ten times better than the 2002 movie. So what that it follows exactly the same script?! It's not like it was a masterpiece in the first place. The remake is a valid exercise on how you can redo something to make it better: the cinematography, the score, the pacing, the acting, the humor, the casting - all so much better than in the original. Using slight touches, the filmmakers vastly improved on the characters, which were so utterly bland in the original. Even the dog - the one from the original was hardly menacing at all.

The deputy sheriff character was WAY cooler in the remake, it brought a delightfully absurd note.

I could go on, but I won't.

To all new viewers, do yourself a favor and skip the 2002 movie; it's just not worth it.

This review would make so much more sense if you took the entire thing word for word and just straight up reversed your admiration from one version to the other. I'm actually tempted to basically copy and paste it, with the above mentioned adjustments, onto a thread for the original film!

The acting was okay overall, but it wasn't superior to the first. The characters were not only better in the first but some in this version were barely tolerable. Hell, Grimm came two-stepping out of the darkness like Zach Galifianakis!!

If this was an original film it would be okay, entertaining with its slapstick gore and porno quality direction, and fun to watch like Zombeavers was. What makes it less appreciated than Zombeavers however is that Cabin Fever was already a well known horror comedy hybrid that already had a strong cult fanbase, and someone took it out back and sprayed it with a fire extinguisher.

The key phrase from your post is "cult fanbase". Having a cult fanbase does not, in any way, make a movie version better. If anything, judgements are being clouded.

The remake is pointless. The original is still the best thing Roth has ever made. This remake added NOTHING. And every aspect of it was worse. It was amateurish. It was like an unfunny parody of the original but no one was let in on the joke

Also I the first one, the chic who shaved her legs didn't know she was infected. I this version she was clearly crying about her highly infected skin on her back, and THEN decide, "I know I'm gonna die soon because my body is decaying at a very fast rate, but my invisible stubble needs to be shaved off promptly because, reasons." That made no sense. The same mistakes where made as in the original, but worse, and then added totally new nonsensical mistakes to boot.

You're out of your goddamned mind. I didn't like the first one, but this makes the original look like amazing film making. There is NOTHING better about this movie. You're a terrible judge of film if you think this in anyway improves on the original.

I'm not going to enter a debate about which version is "better" because that is an issue of opinion. Opinion can't be right or wrong. Besides, I haven't had a chance to see the new version. What's being overlooked is that this new version seems to have gone straight to Redbox and streaming sources, and never played in theaters. The earlier version was a huge success financially, with a budget of about $1.5 million it made back a little over fourteen times its negative cost. That's before income from cable, dvd, etc. In my humble opinion movies are made to be seen in theaters as a group experience. Oh, by the way, in a way the original poster on this topic was right on one point. If you literally "hate on" the remake that does indicate having issues. Hate on ISIS, hate on child molesters, but for goodness sake don't waste powerful emotions like that on anything as insubstantial as a movie.

Opinions are subjective, so his opinion is just as valid as yours. People perceive things differently and there isn't a right or wrong. Stop judging people.
