La La Land : How many Oscars is this going to win?

Howard Hughes was Italian?

When Portman didn't win the SAG I think it signaled she is less likely to win the Oscar. I think that movie was a real downer.

I quite liked it. Very different from your usual biopic. Thought the music was fantastic as well

I also quite liked it but it seems to have lost some momentum in the awards such as the sag going to stone and the globe going to huppert. Also I think best picture is out of Moonlight and La La Land but I still think La La Land has a slight edge.

I think Manchester By the Sea has best writing in the bag

It will be probably the biggest surprise in oscar history if La La Land lose best picture.

There is no way La La Land doesn't win Best Picture. if it does I will lose any shred of respect I have for the Academy. I've seen Moonlight, it is incredibly overrated and if it won it would be solely becuase of politics, which is not what a film should win on.

I honestly think La La Land has a shot at breaking the record and winning 12 Oscars.

I think it may be the best experience I had in theaters since I saw Return of the King in 2003. my second favorite film of all time.

I havent seen " Moonlight " yet, but they won best picture on golden globes

So I guess you haven't seen Hell or High Water Surely it has no chances, but is better.

The Oscars gave Shakespeare in Love and Crash the Best Picture Oscar so the respect it deserves is minimal. There were others too like Zhivago losing to Sound of Music. At the end of the day, La La Land is not exactly the best film of the year. Hacksaw Ridge, Arrival and Lion are better films.

My guess is something close to 5. There's just so much backlash right now that it'll lose smaller categories but win the bigger ones.

Other than that, I can't see it winning anything else, unless they give it to the sound editing and mixing.
So at least 5, but 7 tops.
I could end up very wrong though and it could sweep way more.
It's definitely my fav movie of the year and many years, but it doesn't deserve half those wins, and honestly, it didn't even earn quite a few of those nominations. Other than Picture, Director and Score, it should go to everything else.
But that's just my opinion!

I respect your opinion but it cant lose Production design . There is almost no chance of losing . Same with editing .

They essentially just used LA and spruced it up for production design, and there's only a few sequences where they created actual sets, which are again, just mimics of LA and also Paris. I'd be a little shocked if it won. Has it won this category at other award shows yet? If so, then perhaps you're right. I'd pick Fantastic Beasts or Hail Caeser over that any day, or even Passengers, which is pretty basic in terms of Sci-Fi spaceships, but alas, it was nominated anyway.

As for editing, I agree it was a perfectly paced movie, but I think it'll go to Hacksaw Ridge since I don't see that winning any other of its categories. Arrival and Hell or High Water are also in need of a win somewhere or another.

Basically, I just don't think La La Land will sweep.

Hopefully not many, this is the most overrated movie i've seen since Mad Max

ZERO!!!! This movie was BORING! One of the worst movies I have seen in years.

This Movie was beautiful, especially in the first 17 minutes and last 30 minutes. La La Land will win 10 or 11 Oscars.

At least for the movie and for Emma. She truly deserves, it, being super good i n everyhintg she's in (both appearing in and wardrobes-even Movie 43).
