La La Land : Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Which do you prefer? and why?

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

La la land of course, because its much more sophisticated and camera is way better

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Singin' in the Rain is a far superior film with far superior performances. Ryan Gosling (and probably Emma Stone too) would never have been cast in a musical back in the day, except if there was no dancing required and the singing could be dubbed over.

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Are you joking? Any 1930s-1960s Hollywood musical is far superior to La la land, which basically rips them offsorry, pays homage to them.

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

As said above, you can't be serious. Any adequate persion which is not out of his or her mind will pick the old classics, true classics La La Land will never become. Singing in the Rain is way over.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

It is actually possible to be an adequate person and still prefer a new movie to a classic. Some people need to stop circlejerking over the classic and accept that it's just as possible to make a masterpiece today than it was back then.

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Yes, it's possible to make a masterpiece todaybut La la land is not a masterpiece.

I agree.

Neither is Singing in the Rain

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

I perfectly understand that, but La La Land is not such a masterpiece.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

I mean, duh! I'm one of La La Land's biggest fans, but definitely Singing in the Rain.

The music is all that matters, nothing but the music! The Red Shoes

4 Singing In The Rain
1 La La Land

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Oh please! Some of the scenes in La La Land are direct rip-offs from Singing in the Rain. I think they were meant to be an 'homage' but it felt more like a ripoff to me. The music in singing in the rain is so much better, so much more diverse, and of course, they had an amazing singer - Debbie Reynolds, and two of the best dancers in hollywood history - Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. So there is no comparison. Also the story is so much better. La La Land has a very weak story.

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

An American In Paris.

But Singin' In The Rain if those are the only two options.

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

the best musical is the sound of music for me

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Singing in the Rain has better music, singing dancing, better writing, better chemistry between the actors, and is more entertaining. La La Land doesn't stand close to the great musicals. Its a good, entertaining movie, that happens to have currently hot actors and an up and coming director that is being pushed, but there are tons of other, better musicals that have been made.

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

La La Land cause I'm only 31 and I'm not a hipster liar.

Less than forget. But more than begun.

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

You don't have to be a hipster.. stop the nonsense

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

I'm a fossil but I prefer the music in LaLa Land.

Re: Singing in the Rain or La La Land?

Singing in the Rain. Because it's well written, well directed, and the actors are good singers and dancers. La La Land has none of those things.

(Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.)
