Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #21)

Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations

It was played at the end of "There's Something About Mary".

Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #22)

Oh wow, You are VERY right Father.

I was THE FOUNDATIONS..
not THE FORTUNES, like I thought. Easy mistake though.

"Buttercup' is one of my girlfriend's favorites, even if she's only 34.

I watched, 'T.S.A. Mary' the other night, for the first time in over 10 years.

============================
Now time for Q. # 22 :

This top 19 hit from 1991 is now a rap classic. A song that samples
another song by Kool & The Gang, but 'that' song has no lyrics but sounds pretty 'hot'.

The rapper in question got his own TV series...without EVER having acted before.

OK. Good luck all & see you on the next day available.

Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #22)

Summertime - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

Stay back, geek! It's about to get tragic.

Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #23)

TG has the right answer (yes some days ago) but right as can be.

The song samples Kool & The Gang's 1970s instrumental "Summer Madness".

==================================================

Now here's Q. #23 :

What Bee Gees hit was their only top 10 hit in the 1980s?

A. Tragedy

B. Love You Inside Out

C. Edge Of The Universe

D. The Woman In You

E. One

F. He's A Liar

G. I Gotta Get A Message To You

Okay all set her and best of luck.

=========================================

Commentary : Just wanted it known that I have heard of the possibility of IMDb taking down the message boards. For me personally, iy will be a very sad day if it happens.

Having been part of the site since 2004 and the boards going back to Music General & others and then Baker's Dozen, likely 5 years ago.....it would be the end of an era for all of us who play & take part here the right way.

Trolls exist on just about any message board but those of us who know how to handle ourselves here, we just go about our business and play these games here, leave mesages to others and maybe even make a statement that really matters.

I can only say that I hope IMDb does reconsider. If it ends, well then it ends and I've certainly had my fun here. ...but even though I'm not a 'constant' presence like I used to be, I still would like to stop in once in a while.

Since May of last year, my life has changed considerably and the necessities
now take priority, where being here used to be something I did like 90% of the time.

I still like it here. It's something that's part of all of us that have been here for a long time. We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. If the boards go, I'll miss it but I guess it'd be a sign to move on. If not, then we simply let the fun continue.

Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #23)

E. One
after having hitting #1 twice in 1979 it would take 10 years before their next and last top ten.

In the summer of 1979 I saw them live 3 times in a two week period. One of my all time favorites, sadly only one survives.

HAPPI :

"One" is the one. Kudos to you Bam.
Funny thing, Metallica had a hit of that title in that same year.

I envy you, I can only 'wish' I'd gone to see them when I had the chance, but then again, no one ever thought that Maurice Robin (and even younger brother Andy) would not be around now.
==============================

The Bee Gees actually had 3 #1s in '79, Too Much Heaven, Tragedy and Love You Inside Out, which that last one, again ironically, took over the #1 spot from Donna's "Hot Stuff" or 1 week, then Donna went back to #1.

It's a bit ironic that not only did the Bee Gees come back in 1989 with a top ten hit but so did Donna Summer with "This Time I Know It's For Real" (#7 Pop) , which became her very last hit at all.

The Bee Gees 1981 Lp "Living Eyes" gave only one hit, "He's A Liar" (#30).. Then the "Stayin' Alive" movie soundtrack single "The Woman In You" made the top 25 here in the states in 1983.

After 1983 (and Donna in '84) both acts were not in the top 40 until '89. (Except Barry & Robin solo). The Bee Gees final top 40 hit was 1997's. "Alone" (#28 pop). a song that sounded like a top ten hit and did make a great jump from #40 to #28...and then satayd there and then fell out of the top 40.

...but with 30 hits as a group, 5 solo hits Robin's 2 hits, Barry's 3) and their brother Andy's 9 plus Barry's backing on Samantha Sang's "Emotion" -they ended their run altogether with 40 hit songs. (As well other ones written produced for other acts.)

Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #24)

B. Won't Get Fooled Again for the series CSI: Miami. It seemed to be a trend because the original CSI used the song "Who Are You" and CSI: NY used "Baba O'Riley" for the shows' theme songs.

PS
It's been a pleasure knowing you on the message boards, Happi. Hope to see you around on another board.

I signed up for another site called Previously TV.
http://forums.previously.tv/forum/544-mash/

It will take you to the M*A*S*H boards because that's what I bookmarked but you can move around the site from there. And I'm still FatherMulcahyFan on there too.

Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #25)

Okay hint taken.

Let me change the final question for #25 :

Name the #1 song in America.....RIGHT NOW on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Chart.

Go for it!

Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #25)

The Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran. The other question was fine but a little time consuming for me to answer.

Re: Name The #1 or Top 40 Hits! Pt. III (Question #25)

Thank you Father, absolutely right.

Well, that's all folks! Thanks to all who played my game in all 3 conceptions.

Some have asked me what I'm going to do now, with the boards closing.

Well I'm going to still be on IMDb of course but as far as boards like this go, I'm going to take a break. Going back to Music General, boards for some TV shows and Baker's Dozen, I've been at it for close to a decade (maybe a bit more?)

Again, thank you all!!
