I thought she was tolerable in the beginning of s2 and then I realized it was because she got sidelined. Wasted character, absolutely useless pointless relationship drivel. Candice Patton deserves better material. She's not getting killed off tho.

Why should I accept something that isn't true? Barry and Iris are NOT brother and sister. They share no DNA. They're not even the same damn race.

No offense, but this amounts to a "she's so bad, she's good" argument.

I don't knock her looks or acting ability, but even for a show written for children her character is repellent.

Iris is meant to be a "normal" character, so she doesn't have metahuman/super powers or scientific genius unless they've "added" this in recent episodes.

This is a challenge, because her only "qualifications" for being involved with Team Flash are strictly personal.

Her good looks aren't enough, so they keep tweaking her: they made her a Lois Lane-type intrepid reporter, perpetual damsel in distress, and having a "thing" for Barry/Flash.

That didn't exactly take off. So they hedged their bets by making her the unofficial Team Flash "chaplain", or Mommy: part righteous scold, part cheerleader and pep-talk giver. You know, because she's so caring and gutsy and all.

If you go to a nice restaurant and find a mouse in your pie, that's probably all you'll talk about. But that doesn't mean that either the mouse or the chef must be "doing something right".

She was never a perpetual damsel in distress. In fact, she saved Caitlin from Peek-A-Boo, helped take down Girder, and took down the Calculator(?) at the police station, and also took down a possessed Wally. She's shown she can take care of herself.

It's the writers that are mediocre, not the character. They have no ability to character develop, even Barry is the same guy he was three years ago. Just faster.
