Her thread inspired me to create this one. It’s about movies, and I’m not copying and pasting anyone’s top 50 list, so I don’t see what the big deal is.

I don't get Moneyball.
I get that it is a new strategy.
What I don't get is that if it is supposed to be so good, does it work?
Are any teams using that concept or are they going back to the same old ways?
Is him trying and losing with it really worth it to make a movie?

Re: My top 50 movies released in the 2010s.

It’s pretty much a David vs Goliath story, revolving around Billy Beane’s attempt to assemble a playoff team with a shoestring budget using sabermetrics. In short, Billy engineered his team by selecting players based off of scientific statistics. The rest of the movie focuses on Billy’s bumpy road journey and how they defied all the odds towards an unprecedented twenty game winning streak.

What’s shameful is that it excluded a few pitchers, such as Tim Hudson, Barry Zito and Mark Mulder. Brad Pitt’s performance is a crowd pleaser though.

What I don't get is that if it is supposed to be so good, does it work?

It doesn’t always work for every startup. The As were successful with the strategy though.

Yes. His team was a huge success story, despite the low budget management had. Billy defied the odds.
