Movie Awards : Oscars tonight

Oscars tonight

Will you be watching?

I'll watch some of it and post extremely interesting updates.

Re: Oscars tonight

I watched them for 46 straight years. Now this will be the 4th year in a row I haven't watched.

The only poster who had his account banned 4 times without ever breaking any rules each of those times.

Re: Oscars tonight

👍

Without strife, your victory has no meaning.
Without strife, you do not advance.
Without strife, there is only stagnation.

Re: Oscars tonight

No.
I'll be watching Felix instead.

Re: Oscars tonight

Have you seen any or even all of the nominated ones?

I have just seen some bits of Elvis then get bored with it.

I would only be interested in the Oscars if they had comedies included.
Uptight fuckers need to lighten up!

Re: Oscars tonight

Same here with the Elvis movie. I don't think I've seen any of the other Best Picture nominees yet, but I'm still curious enough to watch the Oscars (some of it, at least).

I'm sure some people will watch hoping for another slap, but something like that happening again is unlikely.

Re: Oscars tonight

You mean like those fans who go to car races hoping to see a crash?
LOL
Yeah, lightning doesn't strike twice.
Though I do wonder if they have security guards near by for any stage rushers.
I honestly don't know why they didn't remove him when they should have and their "punishment" was too soft.
Just banning him from the Oscars?
They should have taken away his award.
Not just for the slap but also because WS is a really, really, really terrible actor!
One of the worst. Really.
They gave it to him because he is black.
Not for his acting.
Which is another reason why I don't care for the Oscars because of how biased it is.

Re: Oscars tonight

This was the year of the Asian.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Oscars tonight

It was.
We got a woke Oscars.

This is why I hate them.
It's a self congratulatory stuck up awards show which is patronizing.
Wanna "win" one whitey?
Forget it!
Your days are over!

Re: Oscars tonight

Of course not.

The crown is mine! 👑

Re: Oscars tonight

I'm not really all that interested. I don't like the nominees.

Re: Oscars tonight

I don’t really watch those. I like to just wait until the results are all out lol

Re: Oscars tonight

It took almost 20 minutes before they presented the first award!

It was for Best Animated Feature Film. The winner was Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio. He was waiting offstage instead of in the audience for some reason.

Re: Oscars tonight

Who are the contestants?

Re: Oscars tonight

The nominees are listed here: https://www.oscars.org/oscars/ceremonies/2023

Re: Oscars tonight

Everything Everywhere All at Once
with a title this stupidly cringe, the entire production crew can drop dead. i will not waste a second on any film this weird.

Re: Oscars tonight

What are your thoughts on the "The Banshees of Inisherin" title?

Re: Oscars tonight

Jimmy Kimmel was guaranteed to reference The Slap in his monologue — he needed a little over seven minutes (about 10 1/2 minutes into the telecast) before he made his first veiled reference to Will Smith's infamous slapping of Chris Rock last year.

“We have nominees from every corner of Dublin,” Kimmel said. “Five Irish actors are nominated tonight, which means the odds of another fight on stage just went way up.”

Less than three minutes later, he was a little more direct: “We want you to have fun, we want you to feel safe, and most importantly, we want me to feel safe,” Kimmel said. “So we have strict policies in place. If anyone in this theater commits an act of violence at any point in this show, you will be awarded the Oscar for Best Actor and permitted to give a 19-minute long speech.”

Smith won his best actor Oscar not long after the slap.

Re: Oscars tonight

Kimmel just said this:

"Our next category is Documentary Feature, which as you may recall, is where we had that little skirmish last year. Hopefully this time, it goes off without a hitch. Or at least without Hitch."

Re: Oscars tonight

That volcano movie looks good. Probably should have won.

Re: Oscars tonight

Do you think Navalny won as an anti-Putin statement?

Re: Oscars tonight

They're talking about the new Little Mermaid movie.

Now they're showing a previously unseen clip from the movie.

Re: Oscars tonight

Javier Bardem plays Ariel's father? In the clip they showed, I thought it was The Rock at first, lol.

Re: Oscars tonight

Wait.
How did they know the nickname for my…um… and get film of it?

Oh wait.
I call it my Little Merman.
Never mind.
