Darth Vader is Luke's father.

The Wicked Witch melts towards the end and for Dorothy it was all just a crazy dream.

Rhett leaves Scarlett.

Rosebud is the name of the sled belonging to Citizen Kane.

She goes off with her husband at the end of Casablanca leaving Rick with a cop to start a beautiful "friendship."

His mother's corpse is rotting in the cellar and Norman dressed up like her when killing others.

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

In every WW2 movie battle, we always "win."

After a crazy and epic police chase with the cops the Blues Brothers end up in prison.

Butch and Sundance get shot to death.

The same two actors do not get shot to death and fake it at the end of The Sting.

Any others anyone else can think of?

Butch and Sundance get shot to death.

——————–
I actually did not know that. I thought they opted for jumping off a cliff in true movie buddy fashion. And I also thought that "Thelma and Louise" borrowed the ending.

I just saw "The Blues Brothers" for the first time about a month ago. I liked it for 90 minutes, but then it went for over the top. I have never liked car chase scenes much.

They do jump off a cliff in what is IMO one of the most and best underrated chase scenes in movies which all happens on horseback while they were being pursued non stop for a couple of days by what is known as The Super Posse.
They end up with nowhere to go on a cliff edge and jump into water to get away for some more adventure later on in Bolivia.

It could have inspired T and L.

Which does bring up another non spoiler ending.

T and L drive their car into a canyon only to land on the other side perfectly safe.

It's funny you say that. When I saw T&L in the theater with my friends and the ladies hold hands and drive off the cliff, the car looked to me to be on the uptake and I said "Isn't that great, they got away!" and everybody I was with looked at me like I was a total fool. I was not picking up on the feminist agenda back in 1993 and it didn't occur to me that death would have been more pleasant way out for the gals.

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

I think for the most part the movie is kinda dumb and I don't how the cop played by Harvey is able to track them down and find them.
I may have to re watch it to see how he pieced it all together like that but there was just something or pieces that seemed to be missing from the investigation.
All of a sudden all these police cars are there???

I gotta admit there is something moving about it though which the music adds to it and then they hold hands as the car is on it's suicide drive.

I guess those who empathize or feminists are supposed to cheer that since they decided their own fates instead of the authorities.
It is giving the finger to the cops.

I don't how the cop played by Harvey is able to track them down and find them.

Cops had arrested Pitt's character and Thelma robbed a convenience store from what she had learned from Pitt and was caught on camera.

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

I wanna ask you a couple of things about this movie.

You know after she gets hit with the blood and sees everyone laughing at her?
Do you think the gym teacher, who was empathetic to her before, really was laughing or was that in Carrie's imagination?

I also feel bad that some died that did not deserve it.
Like her date, William Katt, who was probably knocked out by the bucket but only to die later in the fire and that one teacher who got electrocuted on the stage.
Do you feel somewhat that way too or do you not care who died in the gym?

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

Do you think the gym teacher, who was empathetic to her before, really was laughing or was that in Carrie's imagination?
——————-
A lot of people have expressed the same confusion. Even Pauline Kael said that Sue Snell's complicity was not made clear. I never once thought that Miss Collins was laughing at Carrie. She was so sweet when she sat with Carrie at the prom and talked with her. And she was clearly smiling when Carrie was announced Prom Queen. Then, when she sees Sue, she immediately gets suspicious and tries to throw her out of the Prom. After the blood is dumped on Carrie, Miss Collins is devastated. The only person who was laughing was dorky Norma, who was the last person in the room to be laughing at somebody else. Though I do love P.J. Soles. The laughing was all in Carrie's snapped mind. I don't know how well you remember the movie, but when Carrie imagines the others to be laughing at her, you can hear her crazy mother's refrain "they're all gonna laugh at you!"

Do you feel somewhat that way too or do you not care who died in the gym?
————————–
I felt bad for Tommy and especially Miss Collins as they turned out to be kind people. Also, Frieda, the girl who befriended Carrie when she first walked into the gym. She was nice to Carrie. Though the way Carrie is presented (and Sissy's excellent, sensitive performance), my main sympathies are with her.

I enjoyed your questions!

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

Thanx bro and I liked your responses!

I went back to re-watch that scene on here to remind me.
When Carrie sees them laughing it looks like a kaleidoscope where she sees Collins and everyone laughing at her.
Then the view switches back to normal where a bunch of the kids were laughing but I did not see Collins.
So I think the kaleidoscope was in her mind and I think most of the kids were laughing.
I dunno about the adults or the faculty.

I dunno if you know this trivia, the girl bully in the red hat, forgot her name, when her face gets hit with the fire hose her ear was actually damaged for many years after that.

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

Yes, PJ Soles got a busted ear drum when the fire hose knocked her down.

I met her at a horror movie convention once. Out of all the actors and actresses I got to meet over the years, Charles Cyphers and PJ Soles are my two favorites. Both very friendly people.

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

That is cool and I am happy for you!

OK so this is your number one fave. horror movie.
What would number 2 be on your list?

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

I never think of "Carrie" as a horror film, though it certainly does have elements of horror. I think the movie is almost unclassifiable. Psychological drama, grand tragedy, black humor, etc. But, yes, it is my number one favorite movie and always will be.

I love "Jaws", "Rosemary's Baby" and "Halloween" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". They are in my top 20 favorite movies. Though I would risk saying that of the four, only RB and TCM are true horror, while "Jaws" is more of a thriller and "Halloween" is more of a suspense. The lines between horror and suspense and thriller all get somewhat blurred for me. But that's how I interpret them.

My favorite scary movie of all time is "The Innocents" (1961). After "Carrie", it ties with "3 Women" as my next favorite movie. And I probably would regard it as a horror film, debasing the souls of innocent children.

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

After the blood is dumped on Carrie, Miss Collins is devastated. The only person who was laughing was dorky Norma, who was the last person in the room to be laughing at somebody else.
Dorky Norma! P.J. Soles was great at making her Norma, one of those annoying and snitchy little high school bitches that sat between the other dorky kids and the clique populars and trying desperately to rise above the outcasts. The populars used these kind of kids. Norma needed a good slap too, just as much as Chris needed hers. Not that is made any difference. Chris just got more resentful and hateful.

I love how you assess the psychology of that slap Collins gave Chris and it is pretty much spot on. A slap from Billy, one of her peers, didn't have the same impact as a slap from her female PE teacher. It didn't involve sexuality and desire. Collins gave it to her hard and cold, plus she was an authority figure.

With Collins, in the book as King wrote her (Miss Desjardin), she gave Carrie a slap also to snap her out of her hysteria in the shower, had an urge to laugh at Carrie's blood dump as well. I guess this was more out of shock. She also survives in the book too.

As De Palma filmed it, he makes it a tad vague as to it being in Carrie's mind, or if Collins was really laughing at her. The shock at what suddenly happened to Carrie and Tommy, and while this was rigged for Carrie and Tommy to win, (in the book Billy really didn't care who it was), it wasn't just about a direct assault on Carrie, but her prom king too, and as it turned out the rest of the attendees at the prom. The heavy metal bucket fall onto his head is what killed Tommy.

I do feel it was De Palma's intention to make it appear it was in Carrie's mind about Collins laughing, due to shock, her mother's haunting voice and the kaleidoscopic images passing through her mind. Collins was on Carrie's side. She would have been shocked too and was the one that was then concerned for Tommy lying motionless on the stage.

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

Murder on The Orient Express. They all killed him.

Re: Movie moments that are no longer spoilers

That's a good one, too. 12 stab wounds, 12 murderers.

Agatha Christie was some kind of genius.
